Rhys woke to a strange smell. Her nose twitched. She lifted her head that felt like lead. Her whole body ached in a way that reminded her of her days hunting.
What is that smell? Rhys made her body move and managed to sit up at the edge of the bed. She listened for anyone around. She tried to pick up Jared's scent but nothing. Instead she picked up the faint smell of wolf.
It was another family member, Josh. He was here. Of course he's here Rhys; he's a part of the this family. She stood up and made her way to the bathroom. There was a wall of mirrors along the back of the whirlpool bathtub. Rhys caught a glimpse of her naked self. She stopped as she slid her hand over her body. The slight bulge was noticeable. She studied herself for a while until she really looked at herself in the mirror. Her brown hair was slightly matted and her complexion was pale with a slight redness in her cheeks. Even her eyes felt fuzzy and she didn't think she even looked like herself anymore. There was too many changes going on in her body.
That smell came back to her. This time she covered her nose. Rhys thought she would have a bath and started the water. She threw in some lavender salts. The smell of the lavender masked the other odour.
"You're up love. I thought you might be resting today, given the night we had." He smiled at her as he came into the bathroom.
"Let me help you in." Rhys took his hand and slipped into the tub. The warm water eased the ache in her body. He leaned over and kissed her. The smell was back.
"What is that smell?"
He raised an eyebrow. "You don't know? That smell is our twins. They are making themselves known. I have to admit that they do have a strong scent those two. It must because they are twins. It will settle down as you get more along."
Rhys nodded and then laid back and closed her eyes while holding Jared's hand. "I am tired."
"I know love and today will be a day of rest for you. After you've had your bath, I'll take you downstairs for something to eat. Then back to bed for rest."
"That sound good," mumbled Rhys.
"I'll be back to get you in a while." He kissed her again and left.
She watched him leave focusing on the back of his thick hair. It reminded her of someone. Who was it? The person's face would not come to her. Instead she closed her eyes and tried to clear her mind. It still felt fuzzy. Rhys turned the jets on and let the bubbles froth around her melting her thoughts away making her forget what she wanted.
A noise from what sounded like next door woke her up from her slumber. At first she thought it was the jets so she turned them off, nothing. She listened and then just as she was going to turn the jets on, she heard the noise again. It startled her. It was a loud thudding sound. A shiver went though her for some reason and she wished Jared was there. Some loud muffled voice vibrated thought the wall.
Then it was quiet.
She looked around the bathroom and wondered if she should get out and see what was going on. It still remained quiet so Rhys decided to sit in the tub a bit longer to wait and see if Jared would come. Her whole body felt alive now.
Finally the bedroom door opened and she sat staring at the door of the bathroom. She knew it was Jared. He was doing something in the bedroom.
"Is that you Jared?"
"Yes love, it's me. I'll be right back to help you. I'll be just one minute I promise."
The door shut before she could reply. She could hear what sounded like a door next door open and shut. There were more loud voices and then one thud. Rhys listened for more but it was quiet.
The bedroom door opened and in came Jared. "What was all that noise?"
"You heard that?"
She nodded. "It sounded like you were throwing something heavy around in there."
"Sorry about that. I didn't mean to disturb you."
"It's alright I'm okay but what was going on in there?"
Jared grabbed some towels. "Let's get you out."
Rhys blinked at him and stood up in the tub. He wrapped her in the soft towel and smiled at her. It made her forget the question that she had asked.
He pulled her in tight and kissed her. She smiled up at him. "What was that for?"
He frowned. "What? I have to have an excuse to kiss my future wife and mother of my children?"
She laughed. "No, I guess not."
Jared dried her off. Jared grinned at her. "Since you and I missed out on the special dinner last night, we are going to have that dinner with the family tonight."
"The family is all here?"
"Yes, they are and we also have a special guest. I just met her."
"Who is she?"
"I'm not entirely sure. Simon said he would give us a formal introduction at dinner tonight."
"Oh okay, well I guess we will find out then."
"Let's get you some breakfast."
They both walked out into the bedroom. Rhys spied the dress on the bed. "What is that?"
"I hope you don't mind but I picked  out a dress for you tonight." Rhys looked over at the end of the bed where the dress was laid out. An emerald green satin dress with a jewelled waist sparkled. Her eyes widened. "Very fancy for dinner don't you think?"
"This is a special occasion. This is a celebration of our family being all together."
"Father is going all out as usual." She stopped suddenly. She had said the word father. Why did that feel wrong in her mouth?"
She shook her head and went over to the dress and picked it up. The soft fabric felt cool in her hands. The jewel band was just under the bust and the rest of the dress flowed freely down to the floor. She set it back down and went over and sat down at the dressing table and picked up a brush and started to bush her hair.
Jared took the brush out of her hand and started to brush her hair for her. "Remember when I use to do this? You loved the way I brushed your hair."
His fingers rested gently against the back of her neck as he held her hair and brushed it. The touch of his skin sent a quiver down her spine.
She sighed closing her eyes. It felt to Rhys as if he was transporting her to another dimension with his touch and brushing. She could feel his breath against her right ear. Whispered words entered into her subconscious and when she opened her eyes, he was standing behind her.
"There, that is lovely. I like the way your hair falls over your shoulders. Now let's have some breakfast. I had the liberty of having a tray sent up to us. Come sit over here by this little table."
When Rhys looked over, a little table about the size of a bistro table was draped in a lace table cloth complete with flowers. She smiled.
Jared sat her down and uncovered the plate. Scrambled eggs and toast with some fruit on the side filled the large gold trimmed plate. "Am I suppose to eat all of this?"
He eyed her with a grin. "Most of it, you need food in you." He pointed to the fork. She sighed and started to eat.
After they finished he came around to her. "You need to rest now before we have our dinner party tonight."
"But I'm not...
"Never mind love. Let's go." He escorted her to the bed and helped her lay down. He laid beside her  on top of the covers.
He brushed her hair to the side with his fingers. She looked at him and as she did her eyelids felt heavy. He kissed each eyelid and darkness welcomed her.

"Let me help you into your dress."
Rhys felt that funny feeling again. Suddenly it was early evening. The last thing she remembered was sitting with Jared having breakfast and now they were getting ready for father's dinner party.
He helped her into her dress and kissed her bare shoulders. She smiled at him leaning back into him. "If you keep this up we will miss another dinner and father will not be happy."
Her eyes went wide. She said it again. Why does father sound so strange to say? What's wrong with me?"
She was about to turn around and ask Jared when a gentle knock came to the door.
"Come in," said Jared
The door quietly opened and Garrett popped his head in. "Is it safe to come in?"
Jared chuckled, "Of course it is."
Garrett smiled and quickly walked in.
"Well, don't you look lovely my dear sister."
Rhys smiled at him. "Thank you, Jared picked out the dress."
Garrett grinned at Jared. "He made a perfect choice as usual. Father will be delighted to see you two at dinner tonight." He came and stood right in front of Rhys and looked her in the eye.
Rhys smiled back at him. "What is it? Why are you looking at me like that?"
Garrett smiled. "I'm just admiring my dear sister who is about to be married and also about to become a mother. I couldn't be happier for you right now." He kissed her on the cheek and hugged her.
Garrett cupped his fingers under her chin. "Everything now is as it should be."
He kissed her nose.

I would like to wish everyone Happy Holidays and the best in 2114!

Walking into the estate wasn't hard.
Rhys stood perfectly still while Simon circled around her. She knew that he was sniffing her trying to pick up any weapons that she might have tried to sneak in. Garrett stood off to the side along with Sam. They both eyed her with caution.
Rhys knew that nobody trusted her. She had played this game one too many times. This escaping she knew was not an option anymore if she wanted to keep Thor and Kellan alive. For all she knew she thought they could already be dead.
Simon was inches from her face. She never wavered. Rhys was determined to be as strong as she could. Sam was leaning against the wall. He pushed himself away and walked towards her. Rhys held her breath. Now she had Simon on one side of her and Sam on the other.
Sam's warm breath brushed against her cheek as he spoke, "I think a lock up in the guest house with her intended mate would be in order. Jared would love have you back."
Rhys cringed on the inside when he said the word love. Jared wasn't around and she wondered if he had given up on her but maybe not. She didn't look forward to seeing him in any case.
Simon stepped away and stood now in front of her. His steel grey eyes were haunting. He offered her a small smile. "Your offer to take out my enemies is most honorable but in the state you are in, I will not allow that. You will do as Sam here suggested. I am giving you the opportunity to make things right with Jared." He sighed. "Of course I blame a lot of this on Thor and Kellan. If they...
"You can't harm them. That was the deal and I'm not an invalid. I can still hunt."
Both Sam and Simon laughed. "I don't doubt you can but you're carrying two diamond werecats and that takes precedence," Simon said.
Rhys shifted a little uneasy when he mentioned the diamond were cats. Her secret had to be kept secret more than ever now that she was in this house.
"Take her upstairs for now and get our girl comfortable. We will have dinner tonight to celebrate her return. Will that not be nice dear?"
Garrett had stayed silent this whole time. Rhys heard him walk towards her. "Let me take my sister upstairs. It will give me a chance to spend some time with my dear sister."
Sam eyed him but stepped aside anyway. Garrett smiled at her and offered her his arm. Slowly she slipped her arm through his. She could feel a strange vibe when she touched him.
They were half way up the stairs when he leaned in and whispered. "So, what's the plan?"
She knew what he meant. "I don't have a plan," she said flatly.
He chuckled. "You always have a plan. Why else would you just waltz up to the house giving yourself up? You want that wolf don't you?"
"I'm not talking to you about Kellan. The deal is that you will set them free, both of them. They are still alive are they not?"
"Oh, they are alive."
Rhys waited for him to say more but he didn't offer any more information on their condition. She knew he did that on purpose. There was no way she was going to plead for information. That was his game. Rhys would have to find out herself what was going on.
The room Garrett led her to, was right next to Simon's. "You put me next to Simon's room."
"Yes, and I am right across the hallway as is Sam. He's next to my room." He smiled at her.
"I have the wolves at my door."
"Now two of us are part cat you know. But yeah, you're not going anywhere this time."
Rhys noted the smugness in his voice. It made her insides burn.
Garrett opened the door and waited for her to go in. She felt like a prisoner as she crossed the threshold. Rhys looked around the room that was to serve as her cell for now. A large four poster oak bed adorned the room with a huge white duvet that looked freshly made held her attention. It looked inviting. Off to the side was an antique oak dresser. A walk in closet was not far. She already knew it was filled with clothes. Another door took her into a luxury bathe suite.
The one thing that was missing in the room made her smile. There was no window.
"Why don't you enjoy a soak in the tub and have a rest. You look like you need to rest. I can see stress written all over you."
She glared at him.
She expected him to have some half witted comment but his face was expressionless. He took a deep breath and Rhys could sense now he had something to say and he was going to say it now. She waited.
He started by pointing his finger at her. "You have caused more trouble that I think you're worth but you are my sister and I will protect you. I don't care if you like it or not. You're a part of this family. You have to learn that you have obligations to this family and a loyalty that is expected of you as well. Not to be taking some half ass escape into trouble. Those wolves that you have hung out with are nothing but rogues and should be destroyed and would be if I had my way of it. But father has granted you some lee way." He gritted his teeth. "From now on you will obey and keep yourself in line. You will not only have this family to answer to but someone else as well...
"Give her a break Garrett. I will take care of her from now on, okay?"
Rhys startled. He sauntered past Garrett right up to her. He smiled down at her. "Hello love, I'm so glad you came back to us. You made the right choice. From now on it will be just us and our twins. You will be by my side from now on and we will be solid family. Won't we love?"
Rhys stood there with her mouth slightly open.
Garrett came up and stood beside her and smiled. His sassiness was back. "Of course Rhys will. She has made a commitment to this family now. She knows where her loyalties lie now." He patted heron the  shoulder and left them alone.
Rhys stepped back slightly only to have Jared close the gap up. He swept her up in his arms and kissed her deeply. She gasped for breath.
In one full sweep he scooped her up and took her over to the bed. He gently placed her on the bed and gazed down at her. His dark eyes were sultry and burning with desire. A shiver ran up her spine.
"I have waited for this for so long. You came back to me. You realized that we are meant to be together. I want to make love to you so bad right now." He kissed her again and started to undo her jeans and slipped his hand over her tummy. He bent down and kissed her tummy. She never noticed with what was all going on but there was now a slight bulge there now. He kissed her tummy again. He now leaned over and slid her jeans off along with her panties. He also pulled off her t-shirt and undid her bra, He worked fast. Now she was lying naked on the bed while his eyes took all of her in.
"My beautiful Rhys, you're all mine." He quickly slipped off his own clothes. He pulled her close and she felt his warm skin against her. He was on fire.
He kissed each nipple, sucking and teasing making Rhys moan. His fingers slipped between her legs finding her wetness. Gently he probed her finding her tender spot. Rhys found herself responding to his touch. Why was she letting herself feel all these things? It was like he knew what buttons to push.
His fingers went farther and she let out a gasp. It had been so long for her. Jared couldn't wait either. He carefully mounted himself on top of her and entered her slowly at first and then went as deep as he could go. They both groaned and hung on to each other tightly.
They soon found a passionate rhythm that sent them into a shuddering orgasm. They kissed deeply while he was still inside of her. She wanted him to stay where he was. Rhys could feel her body wanting more. He could feel it too and smiled down at her. "I'm all yours love. You can have as much of me as you want."
They were lying on their side as he started to move back and forth inside of her again. He stopped periodically to kiss a nipple  or nibble on her neck or shoulder. Just as she thought this dizziness was going to sweep her away he would tease her  and pull out. She dug her claws in his back. He came back inside thrusting deep making her insides go mad. His breathing was catching fast now. They both held each other tight as they both entered into a world of ecstasy that sent then into passionate screams.
Rhys lay there staring at the ceiling trying to make sense of just what happened. Had she gone mad? Jared kissed her on the temple. "We have to get ready for the celebrations tonight. Of course I could tell them we are busy."
His had slid down her abdomen and went between her legs. He cupped her for a moment. His warm hand felt good. She tried to fight it but this overwhelming feeling flooded her and she couldn't run from it. What kind of power did Jared suddenly have on her?
She tried to think back the moments before she entered the house. Every step played out in her mind. The greeting, the speech she gave them and the looks they gave her followed by her father smiling at her. What did she miss?
Then this feeling washed over her. Simon, he did this. Like Kellan, he messed with her mind. She could feel it but wasn't sure. Everything was so fuzzy. Then it was gone and she tried to remember but it was gone as if never there.
"Darling what is it?"
She looked over at him. "I don't know. I thought I remembered something but now it's gone."
He smiled at her. "Well, it probably wasn't worth remembering. Forget everything and concentrate on the now. That's what's important."
She smiled at him. "Yes, that's what I want, to concentrate on the now. I love you so much."
"I love you too darling."
"Make love to me."
Jared smiled. "That what I want to hear. I will make love to you all night long."
He kissed her and they were wrapped up in each other's arms. Rhys opened her eyes as that funny feeling hit again. It was that memory.
Rhys couldn't understand it. It was utter confusion. She closed her eyes and tried hard to forget.

Thursday, 12 December 2013

Ali narrowed her gaze at Rhys. "Are you sure about this? It seems a little...crazy." Ali smirked at her.
"I know what I'm doing. I've been hunting as long as you have. I know how to lure a wolf out. Remember, I use to hunt and kill them?"
Ali smirked again. "Yeah, I remember. You were well hated. I even planned on hunting you at one time. That would have been a story to tell."
Rhys watched her walk around the small bedroom with this grin on her face as if she had transported herself to another time. Her eyes locked onto Rhys and she lost her grin. "But, this now is a different game...isn't it?"
Rhys cleared her throat. "You might say that. We have to put an end to this and now. The only way I see it is if Simon is eliminated. His pack of hybrids would have no leader and would be disbanded for at least a while. I'm sure Garrett would jump at the chance to take his place."
"He's a piece of work your brother."
The way she said it made Rhys think she was almost admiring him. "Well, he's just as dangerous as Simon but he won't get the full support that Simon had. He'll have to earn it."
Ali sat at the end of the bed and looked up at her. "So, when do we carry out this plan of yours?"
"The sooner the better and I will tell Katie everything. They will help us, especially if you tell them they can kill some of those freaks as they like to call them."
Ali made a face. "Does Katie know that you're carrying hybrid twins?"
Rhys shook her head. "She won't either. I have to protect these twins right now. Their lives are in danger right now."
Ali nodded like she understood. "So, we make our move tonight?"
"Yes, once Katie has sent out some spies and finds out where Simon is. If he's at the house where they took me, it should be easy to get in there. But if he's in the estate, it will be much more difficult."
"Get Katie in here then and let's find out where out target is."
Rhys left the room and in a few seconds came back with Katie. Rhys filled her in on the plan. Katie nodded and agreed to send out spies to find Simon's location.
Rhys seen through the window three of Katie's cats go out. Cassie was one of them. She was small but Rhys could feel fierceness from inside her. She watched them get into the Rock and take off.
Rhys and Ali went out into the living room. The room was empty except for Katie and a few male cats. The two male cats eyed them carefully. Ali kept to the farthest part of the room. One male cat scrunched up his nose as if her scent was too much.
Katie whispered something to both of them and they quickly left.
When the screen door bounced against the door jamb Rhys turned to Katie. "I'm sorry about all of this but I have to put an end to this and when it's done, we won't bother you anymore."
Katie looked confused. "What do you mean we won't bother you anymore? Are you talking about your twins?"
Rhys took a deep breath. She couldn't tell Katie the real truth. "You have your coven here Katie. I don't belong in it and you know it. Your cats don't trust me."
Katie folded her arms tightly around herself. "Give them a chance. They will come around."
Rhys shook her head. "No, they won't. Being here with Ali who is a wolf is insulting to them. It's like I turned on them. I use to hunt Wolves, remember?"
Katie glanced over at Ali as if she needed reminding. "Yeah, I must admit I don't understand that one either but knowing you, there had to be a good reason, right?"
Rhys nodded not wanting to get into the conversation any deeper.
The roar of the Rock outside pulled their attention to the window. Rhys watched Cassie jump out the passenger side and march towards the front door. The other cats weren't as quick. Katie met Cassie at the door.  She had a grim face. She led Cassie into the living room. The other two male cats caught up. The expressions on their faces weren't any different.
"What did you find out?"
Cassie looked at Rhys and Ali and back to Katie. "Simon was at the house for a moment and then he left. He went back to the big house." Rhys knew she meant the estate.
She glanced at Rhys before continuing. "Simon is gathering up his forces to get her back. He thinks that she is into some deal."
Rhys looked at her. "What do you mean deal? I'm not into any deal with anybody."
Cassie smirked. "Well, Daddy thinks you are."
Katie looked at Rhys, "This is going to be difficult getting into that estate."
Rhys nodded. "No, it won't work."
They all looked at her.
"Why, what are you thinking," asked Katie. "Or should I say what stupid thing are you going to do now?"
Rhys ignored her. "I'll give myself up and stop fighting him. Then I'll make my move. You guys will be safe and I can get Kellan and Thor out. I just have to give Simon my word and prove myself that I won't make any more escapes."
Katie shook her head. "No, he won't. He'll kill you."
Rhys shook her head. No, he won't. I'm carrying these twins right now so that keeps me alive. He'll trust me again. I'll make him."
They all stared at her. Then Ali walked up to her and asked, "How are you going to get him to trust you?"
Rhys looked straight  into her eyes. "By killing some of his deadliest enemies."

Thursday, 5 December 2013

Rhys jumped when she heard the ping on the window. Someone had thrown something at the window. She cautiously went to the window and looked down. It was Katie. How did she...
Rhys quickly shook her head and wondered why she was there. The window was locked but that didn't stop Katie. She shape shifted to her cat form and leaped up to the roof that was just below the row of windows. It was a steep roof but Katie hung on. Then she leaped onto the narrow ledge of the window and now was face to face with Rhys.
Katie's gold eyes went through Rhys. She looked so lethal thought Rhys. Without hesitation Rhys went to the window to try and open it. Thoughts of breaking one of the panes came to mind but she knew that would set off an alarm. The lock on the window had to be picked. She didn't need much to pick it but they knew that too and made sure that there was nothing that she could use.
Katie started to scratch at the window sill. Rhys shook her head at her. She said through the window to Katie, "If you break anything an alarm will be set off."
Katie let out a growl. She couldn't get Katie killed.
She looked frantically around the room for something. She went to the closet and it was full of clothes. Rhys ran her hand through the clothes when something hard hit her fingers. Quickly she stopped and investigated what it was. It was a jewelled broach. An idea came to her.
Rhys ran to the window with the broach. The pin that went through the clothes was by luck the perfect size to fit into the lock. With a couple of little clicks she opened the window.
Katie was still in her cat form. Rhys knew what to do. She shifted.
Both cats scrambled down the roof and leaped onto the ground not stopping. They leaped over some bushes into the back alley and slinked along the bushes staying in the shadows until they had gone to the next block. They both shifted back.
Rhys whirled around to Katie, "What the hell where you thinking , coming here? How did you even get into the back yard?
She scoffed at Rhys folding her arms in deviance at her. "Those hybrids are so stupid that they aren't even a challenge. They're freaks."
Rhys felt a pang inside her as she placed her hand protectively over her stomach. "Yeah well, you took a lot of risk. Why?"
"We want you back Rhys, The cat coven needs you. Trouble is brewing with these hybrids and other cat covens are coming into the area also checking them out. Territory is now going to become battle zones. We don't need that. We need to take these freaks of natures out so we don't have war in our world."
Rhys couldn't help notice her contempt for the hybrids. They were poison to her, Rhys got that feeling loud and clear.
Suddenly a thought rushed into her head. "What about Ali?"
"One of my cats took her to the healer, She will be fine. You have to contact Thor and that other wolf to come get her. My cats are getting agitated about having a wolf in their camp. They want her gone."
"Thor and Kellan are okay?"
"As far as I know." She gritted her teeth. "One of them almost took out one of my best cats. Slap the big brute for me will ya or better yet beat him."
Rhys smirked. "I'll try to remember that as soon as I see him. Right now we need to get out of here."
"My cats have relocated. The Rock is parked down the street. This time no one will follow us."
Rhys nodded and together they took off down the back alley.

The camp where Katie took her this time was in a run down part of the city. It was ghetto like by the broken down buildings and garbage everywhere. A shudder went though her as she seen a small child's bike tipped over on its side, left on the street.
The house where Katie took her was white with blue peeling paint shudders. Some of the windows were cracked and some not there at all. Rhys noticed old plywood over one of the windows. The patio blocks they walked on were cracked with weeds growing in them. Katie took Rhys to the back of the house and right away Rhys picked up Ali's scent. She could see why the cats would be agitated.
The old patio had boards missing as Katie skipped over them to the back door. She tapped the window of the porch door. Right away someone came to the door. It was the small cat, Cassie that Josh had attacked back at the camp. Her gold eyes looked past Katie to her. Rhys felt awkward and out of place suddenly. She got a cold vibe off her like she wasn't welcome.
Katie exchanged some words with her that Rhys couldn't hear. When Rhys entered into the house, all eyes were on her. It wasn't a very big house and the kitchen that they entered was full of cats. As they walked through to the living room there were more cats. Rhys didn't recognize too many of them. She swallowed hard and felt like an intruder. Maybe she was.
"I have her back, my werecats. She was a legend when she use to be apart of us Diamond cats. She could hunt with the best of them and with her help will eradicate those freaks."
Rhys cringed when she said freaks again. There were some murmurs in the room. Rhys was thinking that they were questioning her ability to help them with the quest.
One male cat got up. A tall black youth stood towering over Rhys. His dark brown cat eyes pierced through her sending a cold chill down her spine. "You own that wolf back there? We want her gone". He sneered at Rhys.
"Jared please," said Katie.
Rhys held up her had. "It's okay." She bravely looked up at Jared. "I'm very thankful that you healed her. She is important believe it or not. I will get her out of here as soon as possible, I promise." She looked at them all. "I thank you again and I owe you one."
Jared backed up eyes narrowed at her. Rhys knew he was reserving judgement on her like everyone in the house. She had to live with that. Right now she had to remain calm. She had her twins to protect.
"Where's Ali?"
Jared smirked, "In the back. You are going to let the dog out?" Others in the room laughed only to be silenced by Katie.
"She's in the bedroom at the end of the hallway," said Katie.
Rhys headed for the bedroom. Quietly she opened the door. Ali flew up. "It's me, its okay."
"Katie got you out. How?"
"She's sneaky and lethal at the same time."
Ali snorted. "I could tell that. How does it feel to be with you old coven again?"
Rhys shrugged her shoulders. "It strange. Katie has a new group mostly."
She smirked. "What, they didn't welcome you with open arms?"
"So you want out of here or not?"
Ali sighed. "Okay, what's the plan?"
Rhys looked at her. "I don't have one at least right now."
"Do you have a cell phone on you?"
Rhys gave her a look.
"Yeah I guess not. Well get one. I'll contact Thor."
Rhys went to Katie. "I need your cell." Katie handed her hers. She ran back to Ali who wasted no time in phoning Thor. Rhys could hear him pick up right away. By the tone of his voice Rhys could pick up a great deal of stress.
Right away Rhys thought about Kellan.
When Ali hung up she looked at Rhys. "I guess it's just you and me and this bunch of cats right now."
"What are you talking about?
"Simon has captured Thor and Kellan. He's going to use them to get to you. It's a trap set for you and this time I think Simon means business."
Rhys knew what that meant. He would kill Thor and Kellan in front of her and hold her hostage until the twins were born. She knew then as soon as the twins were born she would be killed.
She looked at Ali. "You and I have a mission then."
She grinned at Ali. "What would that be?"
"We're going to kill Simon."

Thursday, 28 November 2013

The first wolf at the cabin Rhys sees is Josh. She cursed under her breath. Rhys flew out the truck to get to Katie. She was rifling in the back. Rhys met her face to face with a gun in her hand and a knife in her pocket.
"You can't go in there."
Katie narrowed her eyes at her. Rhys remembered that defiant stubborn look. "My brother Josh is in there."
Katie never wavered. "Then you better get him out because I going in and taking out every wolf."
Katie marched off towards the cabin. Shots had already been fired. Rhys ran after her.
"You can't go in there and start shooting, you'll get killed right off the bat."
She whirled around to face Rhys. "You got a better idea?"
Rhys didn't answer her, she instead dragged her over to a window and looked in. Rhys peeked in the window. What was inside resembled a bar fight. She found Josh in the corner pinning down a small cat. Katie looked in and saw where Rhys was looking.
"Damn him, that's our littlest cat Cassie. She's new. I have to go in there."
"Not without me." Katie shrugged her shoulders. "Be by guest, you either rip him off Cassie or I'll do it." She held up her knife.
Rhys went ahead of her and straight for Josh.
Cassie almost had the upper hand but Josh was going to win. Rhys grabbed Josh as swiftly as Katie came in and picked up Cassie.
Josh growled as Rhys dragged him out of the cabin. He was ready to turn on her when she kicked him sending him flying into the nearby bushes.
He came out flying and Rhys was ready. He stopped instantly halfway when he saw who is was.
"What the hell." He was holding his side where she kicked him.
She marched up to him and grabbed him hauling him towards one of the trucks.
"Where are we going?"
"Far away from here as possible."
She roughly threw him into the passenger side of the truck. In a second she was on the other side ready to get into the drivers side when someone stopped her.
"Taking our little brother somewhere?"
Rhys glared at Garrett. "Get out of my way," she said through gritted teeth.
Garrett smirked and stepped out of the way. Rhys flung the truck door open and climbed in.
The window was rolled down and before Rhys could roll it up, Garrett was leaning in.
"Where are you going to escape off to now?"
"I don't know," she said as she shoved him away from the truck. Rhys went to fire up the truck but nothing happened. It barely turned over. She tried again.
"Something wrong sis?"
"What did you do," she shouted at him.
He laughed and threw his hands up in mock surrender. "Don't yell at me, it's not even our truck. It belongs to one your fellow cats." He laughed again.
Rhys beat on the steering wheel. She got out and went around to the passenger side where Josh was but he got out in a split second before she got to him.
She grabbed his arm and headed towards another truck. Josh didn't fight her. Garrett was there ahead of them and opened the door wearing a grin that she wanted to wipe off his face.
"Let me help you sis." He grabbed Josh and threw him into the back seat. "Hey watch it," growled Josh.
Garrett slammed the door in such a way that Rhys knew was a mimic of her anger. Then he opened the passenger side of the door and gestured for her to get in.
She stood there with her arms crossed.
"Do you want me to throw you in like I did Josh?"
She sneered at him. "You wouldn't because I'm...
As swiftly as a sly fox Garrett scooped her up and threw her into the seat where she landed with a thud. She screamed at him.
Garrett leaped into the drivers seat and when he turned the key the door locks clicked in place. She knew she was trapped.
"You're not taking me back to the house, I won't stay."
Garrett never answered her, he instead stared at the road a head of him. She watched those silver eyes of his. He was thinking Rhys knew and that meant trouble.
She had to get out. Rhys wheeled herself around on the seat and was going to kick at the window with her feet when Garrett grabbed her. "You will do no such thing sis. Sit down and be a good girl.
We have to look after those Diamond twin cats of yours."
Rhys twitched. She wondered what he would think if he knew the truth. Would he kill her? What about Simon she thought? She shivered. Rhys sat up straight. Now she had a secret to keep from them all.
Garrett turned down a street that she knew the house was not on.
"Where are we going?"
"You'll see."
He stopped in front of a small house that was nestled in among a row of houses. It was a quaint little neighborhood so Rhys was confused as to why they were here.
Josh got out and opened the door for her.
She looked at him. His eyes were sorry. She got out and Garrett and Josh led her to the front door where a young maid opened the door.
As soon as Josh and Garrett let go of her she broke a way and went out the door and was headed to the truck when Garrett caught her.
"Oh no you don't my dear." He picked her up and threw her over his shoulder. She screamed and kicked but he held her firmly.
Josh shut the door as soon as they were in.
He dumped her on the floor.
There was a pair of black boots at her eye level. When her eyes travelled up the legs to see who was wearing them she saw Simon smiling down at her.
"What am I going to do with my little girl?"

Rhys fell to the ground and flattened herself as much as she could. There were more shots. Then there was nothing. Rhys looked up and dark shadows were leaping about in the back yard. Someone was running to where Ali was laying. Rhys held her breath.
She had to do something. The person who found her looked up her way to see what they could see. Their head tilted up. Rhys knew they were sniffing. She sniffed back.
It was cat and that scent was familiar.
They started to run towards her. Rhys stiffened. Should she shift and take off?
But they were on top of her before she thought of what else to do.
When Rhys looked up she looked into eyes that shone from the street light. It was  a female cat and Rhys knew her.
"I thought it was you but had to see for myself."
"Katie, is that really you?"
"The one and only love. Need a hand up?"
Rhys was hesitant at first but slowly extended her hand. Katie was fast and had Rhys pulled up before she could blink.
Katie glanced back at Ali. "Was she after you, that wolf?"
Rhys shook her head. "No, she was helping me. That's Ali and yes she's a wolf but she saved me on more than one occasion. I have to help her and get her out of here."
Rhys could barely see her face but could see her nose wrinkle. "She's shot bad and is loosing blood."
"Then I have to get her out of here." Rhys headed towards Ali. Katie grabbed her arm. "Is that where your allegiances  lie now, with the wolf pack?"
"I'm not with anybody right now, but the wolf pack has helped me." She could tell by Katie's face that she was confused by all this. "Look, I know this makes no sense to you but a lot has happened since I left the Diamond Sirens."
Katie smirked. "No kidding. It looks like a hell of a lot has happened and not much of it good by what I see. Those rogue wolves in the house almost took out some of my cats."
Rhys panicked. "Are they okay?"
Katie came almost nose to nose with her. "They got out. One of my cats is slightly wounded but nothing serious." She shook her head. "It was you we were after. Word is out on the street about the those creepy hybrids.  Simon your daddy is out on the prowl along with those hybrids looking for you. We thought we would get the jump but some of the other wolves started attacking some of the wolves that were guarding the house. We snuck in while they were fighting but it all got messed up when some of Simon's creatures came barging in at the same time. I think one of them were firing at you but my cat got him."
Rhys took in a deep breath. "Thanks but we have to get Ali out of here."
They both ran to her and Katie picked her up. "Let's get her to the camp. There is a healer there."
Rhys nodded. A slight twinge went though her gut as Katie headed toward a parked SUV. Rhys couldn't believe that they still had the vehicle. It use to be hers.
Katie placed Ali in the back seat. Rhys got into the passenger seat while Katie jumped into the drivers side and fired up the engine.
"You still have "The Rock," I see.
Katie grinned. "We didn't name it the rock for nothing."
Rhys nodded.
Katie looked over at her. "Are you pregnant? I can smell something strange off of you."
Rhys shifted uncomfortably and cleared her throat. "Yes and it's complicated. I don't really feel like discussing it right now. I just want to get Ali healed."
Katie nodded. "Fair enough but later you have to promise to fill me in on everything, okay?"
Rhys grinned. "Okay, as long as you promise to update me on everything that has happened in the Sirens.
"It's a deal."

They roared along when suddenly a road block of trucks were across the road. Katie slammed on the breaks. Rhys eyes went wide.
"Turn around Katie, now! They're Simon's wolves."
Katie threw the SUV into reverse and spun around facing the other way. She stepped on the gas catapulting the SUV into the opposite direction. Rhys looked behind and a couple of them were getting into the trucks.
"They're going to chase us. You have to lose them."
"No problem."
Katie turned sharp at one corner and then another. Rhys kept looking for lights behind them but none so far. Rhys looked over at Katie who had sheer determination in her face. Rhys always remembered her gutsiness and dare devil attitude she always had about her. She recalled yelling at her a few times about her reckless ways. Katie always laughed in her face.
Tonight she was glad to have the dare devil on her side.
Katie turned again and this time it was down a dirt road. After about a mile on the dirt road she killed the lights.
"What are you doing? I think you lost them."
"I have to make sure. I don't want them finding where our current camp is." She drove into a small clearing almost obscured by bush where she stopped. She turned the engine off."
"We can't stop, we have to save Ali."
"Don't worry about her. Those beasts are stronger than you think."
"What are you waiting for?"
She was looking down at her cell phone.
Rhys looked back at Ali's still body.
The cell phone buzzed. "We have clearance."
Katie was about to start the engine when they both heard the roar of a truck. They both held their breath. Lights came out of the bush and went past them.
"Damn, how did they...
Katie quickly texted a message. "I hope they get out before...
Shots rang in the night.  Katie cursed as she fired up the SUV and took off toward the camp.
"What are you going to do?"
"Kill every wolf I see."

They received good news and bad news. Jamie had made it back safe and sound. She told them the story of how she tried to get Rhys back and led them off in the opposite direction.
The bad news was they didn't buy it.
Simon had sent his wolves out and they caught Jamie and Rhys scent going in the opposite direction to what she had told them.
Now she was locked in her room under guard.
Rhys paced back and forth. Why didn't I make Jamie go back instead of making her show me where the others where? You have to help them somehow. Simon will kill them all.
Rhys startled when someone touched her shoulder.
It was Kellan.
She suddenly couldn't breath. His wolf scent filled her head and swooshed down her body making her almost dizzy.
"Are you okay?"
Rhys managed to stutter out, "yes."
"Thor and I will make sure nothing happens to you."
Rhys was shocked to hear that and then wondered if it had anything to do with Kellan being the father of her twins.
"You need to let me go. They will follow my scent here to all of you. If I leave maybe they won't find you."
Kellan shook his head. "Thor said that no one is going anywhere right now. He has wolves out there watching and leaving scents leading them away from us. So far we are still safe."
Rhys nodded. "That's good, I'm glad but I still shouldn't be here. It's me they want and all of you will be casualties because of me."
A stronger scent wafted past Rhys. Thor had entered into the room. "Listen to Kellan, no one is going anywhere right now. So don't go planning any of your little escapes. We'll move deeper into the city of New Orleans later on tonight."
"The French Quartet part?"
Thor nodded. "Indeed that is where we are headed Kellan." He smirked at him. "You use to spend a lot of time there. It's too bad you can't remember any of it."
Rhys narrowed her gaze at Thor. He grinned back at her giving her a pang in the chest. He obviously was talking about another love that he had at one time she thought. She sighed.
Ali came into the room with her hands full. Rhys couldn't make out at first what she had. They were wrapped. When she sat them down on the table and unwrapped them Rhys gasped.
It was an assortment of weapons. Knives of different sizes and guns were set out on the table. There was even a bow shooter.
Thor smiled. "This is a good haul." His eyes gleamed at her. "You're a good thief dear."
Rhys marched up to the pair of them. "What the hell do you think you're going to do?"
Ali threw her a nasty look. "We're fighting. Haven't you figured that out? We have to arm ourselves when we leave here. Simon will have wolves stationed all around here waiting to ambush us. We'll be ready."
Rhys threw up her hands. "Why don't you just let me go? I could lead them away from you. Then you can get out of here before they get here."
Thor shook his head. "It wouldn't be that simple kit. Simon has enough wolves to follow you and take us out at the same time. No, you come with us. They won't fire at us at least with you close by."
"I'm your leverage," Rhys said.
Thor sighed. "As usual kit, you always are."
A shot was fired.
Everyone in the room startled. A loud thump hit the front door.
Thor looked at Kellan then at Ali. "Take Rhys to another room, the one with the window."
Ali nodded and grabbed some guns and took Rhys by the arm and started to drag her down the hall.
Rhys looked back as Thor opened the front door. Rhys could see a wolf lying on the front step. It had been shot. A lump formed in her throat.
The last thing she seen was Thor dragging in the wolf's body.
Ali shut the door behind them and locked it.
"What are you doing?"
"Making it harder for them to get inside. If we have to we'll go the window."
Rhys looked at her in bewilderment. "So, we are going to sit here and wait for them to come and attack us? What kind of plan it that?"
A sudden crash like glass breaking and now shouts made Ali leap towards Rhys.
She pushed a gun into Rhys hand. "It's ready to use and don't be afraid to use it."
Another shot was fired and this time it was in the house. Rhys hoped that Thor and Kellan had got to those weapons before the others.
"We have to go out the window," yelled Rhys.
Ali didn't argue. Rhys got out first and then helped Ali out. Both of them ran for it.
A loud bang rang in Rhys ears. She turned and Ali was almost caught up to her. Someone was at the window they came out of. They had a gun.
"Run Ali, they have...
Rhys could see the spark of light when the shooter fired another shot.
Ali went down.

Thursday, 7 November 2013

Rhys pulled her back through the door slamming it shut. She pinned her arms against the door. Rhys glared at her. "What do you mean?"
Jamie stared at her wide eyed and fear from her suddenly filled Rhys senses. She took a deep breath and tried to keep her voice calm. "I want to know what you meant by what you just said."
"Let go of me." Rhys watched  Jamie give Thor a desperate look but he didn't move. Rhys was thinking that this was news to him as well.
Rhys let go of her arms. "Okay, sorry but you threw me a curved ball there with that statement that you made. Please explain."
Jamie relaxed a bit. "I have keen senses, even to the unborn wolf and cat. I can tell what they are and what sex they are as well. You twins are half and half." She threw up her chin at Rhys. "I'm never wrong."
"Really." Rhys wanted to beret her with more questions but instead just stepped away from Jamie. She looked at both Thor and Jamie. "Then that means that the father of these twins is Kellan."
"Jesus," Thor muttered under his breath.
She glared at him and he shook his head in response.
The door knob moved but the door didn't open. Everybody froze.
"Why won't this door open. Let us in."
It was Ali. Everybody let out a breath. Thor went up and opened the door.
A sour looking Ali came marching through the door with Kellan following her. "Why did you lock us out?" Ali then noticed Rhys.
"Oh, I see."
Thor shut the door and locked it. Ali looked at Jamie, Rhys and Thor who she narrowed her gaze at. "You want to tell me what the hell is going on? What is Jamie and Rhys doing here?"
Rhys glanced over at Kellan who looked just as confused as Ali. Her insides turned over.
"Things got more complicated tonight. Our kit here decided to go a-wall and Jamie brought her here."
"Nice," smirked Ali. "Now we'll have the whole posse out looking for her. We have to leave tonight."
Jamie came forward. "I can buy you time. They didn't know she was missing when I left. Simon was talking with Josh when I left." She cast her eyes to the floor and shifted and muttered. "They probably know now. I should get back before Josh is thinking that Rhys kidnapped me or something."
Thor threw her a mean look. "The door is locked missy and it isn't going to open until the heat has passed."
He waved his hand at her. "We have to prepare for some rough play here. Simon is in town now and he will be calling up all his forces to get his daughter back."
Rhys suddenly felt guilty for coming into the house and putting them in danger. She didn't think this through-as usual.
"What are we going to do then, sit and wait for them to come sniffing around,?" Ali scoffed.
Thor gritted his teeth. "No, I'll send out some of the pack to so some snooping and see what is actually happening out there. Then we'll decide."
Rhys took a peek at Kellan again. He was sticking close to Ali for some reason. What has she done to him? Oh, Kellan I've made a mess of things. I wish you had your memory back or least some it.
Thor slapped Kellan on the back. "Well buddy, you and I have to make some contacts." They left the foyer without looking back at them.
Ali stood alone for a moment before she looked over at Jamie and Rhys. She folded her arms in front of her chest. She was dressed in black leather from head to foot. She looked fierce Rhys thought. Her wolf eyes stared at her. She smirked. "You do have a knack for trouble don't you? Always getting into ones face when you should stay clear. When are you going to learn?"
Rhys didn't want to tell her that she didn't know the half of it yet but she wasn't going to tell her what Jamie had told her. She was hoping that Thor would keep his mouth shout. Kellan wouldn't understand any of this if he got word of the news.
"We have to let Jamie go Ali. She can deflect attention from here. She can tell them I escaped out and went in the opposite direction. That she tried to hunt me but failed."
Ali bit her lip and glanced over at Jamie. "I don't know. Thor should maybe...
"No, Thor will not let her go. He's too stubborn. This is the best way."
Ali shifted and Rhys observed her being hesitant to make a decision without Thor.
"I promise to lead them away Ali. I can't stay here. Josh will be frantic and if you think Simon will tear apart every corner of this city...
"Okay, I get the picture. Go already before Thor comes back and rips our heads off."
Ali walked up to the door and unlocked it. Very carefully she opened the door and sniffed.
She nodded to Jamie. She slipped past Ali and out the door.
"Let us know what you find when you get back to the house."
Jamie nodded and then disappeared into the darkness.
Ali shut the door and locked it again. Rhys could tell there was more on her mind.
"What's wrong Ali?"
Ali didn't meet Rhys gaze.
She turned around and then met Rhys gaze. "We have more trouble."
"What? Tell me."
"It appears that we are going to be in a middle of a gang war soon. When word got out about Garrett being in town some other gang surfaced. You might know them. The Diamond Sirens.
Rhys knew all to well who they were. They were her gang at one time.

Thursday, 31 October 2013

Rhys blinked, "Is that really you Jamie?"
She came a little closer to Rhys but not too close. "Yeah, it's me."
"What are you doing out here? Why did you follow me? I thought no one seen me leave."
"I sensed you out side the bedroom door. I knew you must of saw Simon and decided to leave."
Rhys took a deep breath. "Did you come to get me back?"
Jamie didn't show any emotion. Rhys looked at her and studied her for a second. It was like there was a different girl standing in front of her. This wasn't the shy intimated girl from before.
"Then why did you follow me? Did Josh send you?"
She shook her head. "No, I came on my own. Josh is talking to Simon right now. They don't even know you are missing. I bought you time."
Rhys's mouth dropped open. "You bought me time for what reason?" She was starting to feel manipulated by Jamie.
"I have abilities that not too many people know about."
"Oh, what would that be?"
Jamie gave a small smile. "It doesn't matter right now. What matters is that you get away from them and back to the group."
"The group?"
"Thor, Kellan and Ali. I stayed with Josh so I was safe. Simon won't do anything to me."
"I see but still...why did you follow me? Do you know where the group is?"
Jamie nodded.
"Would you take me to them?"
Jamie bit her lip and looked back as if someone might be coming for her. Rhys looked at her and for a second  She thought she caught a glimpse of something from Jamie. Her eyes shone like a cat when the light from the bridge hit her face.
Rhys was taken back and she remembered the sent she had picked up. She had taken for granted that Jamie was a werewolf but she smelled cat.
"I'll take you to them but you can't say anything to anybody about how you got to them."
Rhys didn't hesitate to give her an answer. "It's a deal."
Jamie then walked past her. Rhys followed catching up to her side.
They walked along the bike path in silence until Rhys couldn't take it any longer. "When I first picked up your scent I smelled cat. I thought you were a werewolf like Josh, Thor, Kellan and Ali. "Are you a hybrid like Garrett?"
Jamie sighed. "It's complicated, I'm more cat than wolf so I'm not a true hybrid. I can't shift to wolf form but I can to a cat form."
"Oh, okay, that is complicated. Do you still belong to Ali's pack or I should say Garrett's?"
"Thor recruited me but only because of Josh and his father being Simon."
Rhys soon figured it out. "You would make a good spy."
"Something like that."
They never said anymore to one another for a long moment. Jamie went ahead and found a street. She stopped and looked around. Rhys could tell she was trying to pick up any scents. Rhys did the same thing. A slight breeze had picked up so scents were hard to pin point.
Jamie gestured for her to follow her down the street. It was well lit up. Rhys was feeling a bit exposed going down this lit up street but Jamie seemed quite sure of her self.
Jamie stopped and pointed to a short street with  only five houses on it. "This is where they are."
Rhys looked at her. Which house is it then?"
"The one at the end of the street, I'll take you there. They will be looking for us."
Rhys placed her arm on Jamie's. "They're expecting us? How?"
Jamie held up her cell phone.
Rhys chuckled. "I see, I should have known. You are a good spy."
Jamie smirked and turned and ran down the street.
Jamie rang the door bell and within seconds Thor answered the door. He grinned at Rhys.
"Good work kiddo," was all he said.
Rhys tilted her head at him. "You guys are going to hide me out from Simon?"
Thor didn't look at her. He ushered them in and shut the door behind them rather quickly thought Rhys. Maybe there were other eyes out there watching them. She looked around for Kellan but the only one around seemed to be Thor.
He looked at Jamie. "You should get back before Josh wonders where you are."
Jamie didn't need any more prompting. She was on her way out the door but stopped half way through and looked at Rhys.
"You know, about your twins?"
"Yeah, what about my twins?"
"Everyone thinks they are some pure Diamond were cats, right?"
Rhys nodded waiting for her to continue.
She leaned over to Rhys like she didn't want Thor to hear. "Your twins are not pure Diamond were cats."
"Why do you say that?"
"Because I can smell the wolf in them."
She turned around and left, leaving Rhys utterly shocked.

Thursday, 24 October 2013

Rhys watched Simon walk towards the front door through her bedroom window. She had a feeling that he would head straight up to her.
She had no desire to see him. The sound of the front door and the sound of voices greeting him wafted up to her. This was good. It would buy her time although not
much. She had to act quickly.
The window was locked.
Out the door she went and down the hallway. She dashed into another bedroom and to the window. Looking out the window she could see a sheer drop--no roof. She left to another bedroom but stopped short when she heard voices inside.
It was Josh and Jamie. Josh was back. They were safe at least. Rhys ran down to the end of the hallway and into the last bedroom. The curtains were moving ever so lightly. Open window.
Rhys flew to the window. She peered out over the long roof line. Her keen hearing picked up footsteps coming up the stairs and voices. She picked up her name.
Now was the time. She hoisted up the window and climbed out. As slick as in her cat form she scaled the roof to the edge where there was a lattice wall covered in roses-thorny roses.
Damn, I'll be shredded. Something inside her told her she could do it--in her cat form.
Rhys didn't have to think twice. In a mere few seconds she shifted into her cat form. With one swift leap she leapt down to the ground without making a sound. Her large paws tore into the ground taking off across the yard.
She could see the gates a head of her and they were open. I'm going to make it!
Rhys moved faster. The gates started to move. They were closing now.
Without thinking she went even faster to get through before they closed.
The gate scraped her one side as she slipped though. She didn't stop despite the small wound on her side. There was no time to shift back.
Rhys thought of the river. That would be a safe place till she figured out where to go and what to do.
Car lights were coming towards her. Into the dark ditch she leaped and hugged the ground as tight as she could. The car whipped past her.
Rhys crawled along the ditch for a while till she smelled the water. Then she took off towards the smell until she seen the bridge lights reflect on the black water.
She made it under the bridge. She collapsed and shifted.
Laying on her back she couldn't believe that she had actually shifted. Her mother was wrong. Being pregnant didn't stop you from shifting.
She sat up figuring she couldn't sit here much longer. They would know that she was missing and would be searching for her.
She had to get to them and warn them. Once Garrett got wind of this, war would be declared. Simon will blame them and Kellan. She had to protect him.
There was only one problem-how would she find them? She had no cell.
Rhys sighed. She would go follow the river into town and figure something out.
She crept out from under the bridge. Rhys found a paved bike path and started to follow it.
About a hundred yards down the path she caught scent. It was a cat. She stopped and looked around but nothing. She kept going and the smell came again.
This time is was behind her. It was strange and something was not quite...
She whirled around and stopped short. "What the hell...Jamie?

Thursday, 17 October 2013

Rhys laid on her back across her bed staring at the white ceiling. She was relieved that she had saved them. She had saved Kellan.
It was keeping them away that was going to be the hard part. Garrett had warned her that they would probably be back and she had a sick feeling in the bottom of her gut that he was right.
A soft knock at the door took her out of her thoughts. Rhys never got up. She turned her head toward the door and watched the doorknob turn.
She didn't have to guess who it was.
"Hi sweet heart, are you feeling okay?"
Rhys let out a long breath. "Yeah, I'm fine."
Jared came halfway, then stopped. He hesitated to come the rest of the way. Rhys could see on his face that he didn't know if he was welcome in the room or not. She sat up but didn't invite him to sit beside her.
So she watched him stand there, putting a distance between them.
"I'm sorry about the shock I gave you. I know you must have questions and I admit I have questions as well."
"You have questions?"
Jared opened his mouth but then closed it. Rhys was guessing that he maybe decided that this was not the time for questions. A sense of relief washed over Rhys.
He took another step forward watching for a reaction from her. She darn well knew by his anxiousness in his face that he wanted to take her in his arms.
She never said anything and in not saying anything, he didn't come any closer.
"I'm tired," she said in flat tone.
"I'm sure you are. I just wanted to make sure you were okay, that's all."
"I would like to be alone." She met his gaze and she could now read a longing that almost made her heart ache or was it sympathy?
He glanced away looking down at the floor. "I will let you rest but if you ...
"I will call someone if I need anything. I have the phone at my fingertips."
He nodded. His feet moved to turn around but Rhys could see that it took every ounce of effort on his part to turn his body. Rhys could feel his desire to want nothing more than to run to the bed to be with her.
"Good night Jared."
His shoulder slumped. "Yes, goodnight Rhys."
Rhys watched him leave and when she heard the click of the door she fell back on the bed.
She closed her eyes and tried to shut them all out.
The door flung open startling her.
"What the ...
"Sis, what do you think you're doing?"
"What the hell do you think you're doing barging in here?"
Garrett frowned at her. "I would have knocked if I had known Jared was in here with you but when I met him in the hallway looking like he got kicked in the gut I knew you had something to do with that."
"Really, well I want to be alone. I'm tired."
"Are you still pining away for that wolf?"
"Shut up and get out."
"Must I remind you that I went to great lengths to bring Jared back to you? And must I remind you that you are carrying his children?"
Rhys just stared at him.
Garrett shook his head. "What are we going to do with you?"
Rhys laughed.
"I'm glad you find all of this amusing sis."
She turned away from him. "Get out and shut the door nicely when you leave."
Rhys could hear him stomp over.
"You have to pull yourself together. Remember our little agreement?"
"I remember, now get out."
"Fine, have it your way for now. But I expect you to be back with Jared tomorrow. You two are still getting married."
That got Rhys sitting up. "I'm not getting married till after the twins are born."
Garrett smirked, "I don't thing so. Father wants you married right away."
She narrowed her gaze at Garrett. "I will not do what Simon wants. I'm waiting."
He stared at her for a second and then shrugged his shoulders. "Be stubborn but mark my word you will be married soon."
He grinned. "Good night sis."
"Go to hell," she said as she turned away from him.
She could hear him chuckle as he left the room.
Rhys got up. Now she was mad and oh how she wanted to throw that bastard out a window. She started to pace the floor in her room. This was too much to take. She thought she could handle this situation but she couldn't. Getting married soon was something she didn't need right now. She had too much to think about.
Rhys walked over to the window. Lights in the distance caught her attention. They were car lights coming up the driveway.
Her chest started to thrum. She had a bad feeling.
The car stopped in front of the house. The driver got out and opened the back door.
Simon got out.
Jesus, he's here. What now?
She stood back and thinking her thoughts out loud said, "I'm making a break for it, tonight."

Rhys saw him leaning against the door way of the office grinning watching her come towards him. She kept her cool. The smell of wolves and were cat permeated the air. It was an odd mixture. It felt like they were hiding in the walls.
When Rhys got closer Garrett pulled himself away from the door and met her half way. "Well, well, I didn't expect to see you. I thought Thor had you hidden upstairs."
"Broke out. You know I'm good at escaping."
Garrett laughed. "I should know better, shouldn't I?"
"You have to stop this mess right now before anybody gets killed."
Garrett offered his arm to Rhys. "Come to the office with me where we can sit and be comfortable. You probably should be off your feet. How have you been feeling?"
"Did you hear me? You have to stop this madness before it turns ugly."
"Oh sis, it's been ugly for a long time."
Garrett led her into the office and there was someone there waiting for them.
Rhys gasped. Garrett laughed. "I thought you would be surprised sis."
"Hey sweetheart. Are you okay?"
Rhys couldn't move. "Jared? You lived."
She felt his arms wrap around her and his scent washed over her. Why couldn't she feel him if he was alive. What happen to our bond?
Jared looked down at her and smiled. "I was so worried about you. You are okay?"
Rhys held her breath.
"Are you okay Rhys? Say something to me."
"I...I don't know what to say. I thought you were dead."
Jared smiled warmly at her. "As you can see darling, I 'm far from dead."
Then why can't I feel you in my head and your scent. I can hardly pick up your scent at all. Rhys wanted to say what she felt but she couldn't make sense of it. She looked over at Garrett. "What are you planning? Is Josh okay? Did he go back to Simon?"
"Hold on sis, one question at a time. "First of all, Josh is okay and he is safe. As for any plans, I have plenty of those sis. That's why Jared is here, to take you away from all of this so that you won't be harmed."
"Jared will take you far from here so you and the twins will not be harmed." Rhys noted the firmness in his voice. Rhys could feel a coolness over her skin from him. He wasn't going to repeat himself again to her. He had made his point.
Jared took her hand. "We should go love."
Rhys mind raced with the ones sitting in the study like sitting ducks. She felt an obligation to them despite how she had been treated by them. There was still this trust between them even if it was on shaky ground. Of course there was Kellan. She wasn't going to leave him there, no matter what.
Rhys took her hand away from Jared. "I'm not going anywhere."
Before Garrett could yell at her and order Jared to physically take her away, she marched up to Garrett and came as close as she dared--almost nose to nose.
His silver eyes glared at her.
"I will not leave the ones in that study behind for you to kill, especially Kellan." She didn't care if Jared knew now, this was a war now. In a blink of an eye Garrett was sailing through the air and hit the wall. She was on top of him with a knife at his throat.
She glared at Jared. He didn't move.
"Where did you get that knife sis?"
She smirked. "It's yours bro, I borrowed it from your pocket. It's the only way I can get you to listen to me."
She held the knife firmly under his chin. He grinned up at her. "You're just as bad ass as I am. I'm impressed."
"I'm not like you," she said through gritted teeth. "I'll slit your throat if you don't agree to let them all go. I will not have anybody killed today."
Jared came a little closer.
"Stay back Jared. I will think nothing of slicing him."
"Sweetheart, why are you talking like that? Come and let me take you away to where it will be safe from all of this. Think of the twins!"
Her eyes widened at him. "I will not do as you want so back off." She turned her gaze back on Garrett. "You and I are going to make a family deal."
Garrett wasn't grinning anymore and Rhys knew that look in his eyes. He was going to attack her soon if she didn't act quickly. "Let's get you up." She helped him up and with one quick move had the knife firmly against his back ready to plunge it into his back.
"Lets go find your boys. Jared, lead the way and one heroic move will see a knife through Garrett's back."
Jared shook his head. "Do as she says Jared, let's amuse our little girl here."
She pushed the blade against his back making him flinch.
"Don't you try anything fancy either."
"I wouldn't dream of it sis."
Jared led the way out of the study and by this time Thor and the rest of them were in the foyer. They all went still when they saw Rhys with the knife behind Garrett's back. A small smile crossed over Thor's lips.
Ali and Rhys shared a look. Ali was at her side in seconds. "What do you want me to do?"
"Take this knife and don't hesitate to use it."
Ali grabbed the knife and held it against Garrett while Rhys went in front of them all. All eyes were on her and some of Garrett's hybrids had come in to see what was going on. They looked at Garrett who shook his head. They stood still.
"Thank you Garrett. We wouldn't want anything to happen to me now would we?"
"What do you want Rhys?"
"You already know that answer, I want them released. I will stay and be a good little sister if you let them go, if not I get to watch Ali shove a knife into you and we all fight your hybrids including me putting the twins at risk."
"Are you mad,? yelled Jared. You are willing to take are twins with you in death over them?"
Garrett laughed. "No Jared you have it wrong. She's using the twins as leverage. She still loves Kellan and will do anything to protect him."
Kellan's eyes went wide. Rhys could see his mouth open and then close. She swallowed hard.
"Give me an answer Garrett. What will it be?"
Garrett sighed. "I have no choice and you know it. I have to let them go. Our father cherishes those twins like they were real gold and of course his family to stay intact. You win."
Rhys narrowed her eyes at him. "You give me your word?"
Garrett nodded. "Our little family deal is sealed sis. I let them go and you belong to us."
She looked at Thor, Kellan and Ali. "You are free to go."
Ali looked at her. "What about you?"
"You heard Garrett, our little family deal has been made. I belong to them now."
Garrett gestured to his hybrids. "Escort them out will you."
The hybrids led them out the door. Kellan looked back at her confused. Her insides did a flip.
Garrett came in front of her blocking her view of Kellan.
"Now you listen to me sis. I let them go but don't think for once that they are just going to walk away and leave you here. One of them will get the stupid idea of trying to rescue you and when they do I will be ready. Each one of them will die and that includes Kellan."

Thursday, 3 October 2013

"What the hell," breathed out Rhys. "What are you doing here?"
Ali gave her a smug look. "I thought you would say something like that."
"Where did your thugs take Josh?"
"My thugs?"Ali marched up to Rhys. "I just saved your brother dear, you should thank me."
"Where is he," Rhys said though gritted teeth.
"He's back with daddy."
Rhys just about choked. "What? Are you working for Simon now?"
Ali sniffed. "It's all about surviving dear, you should know all about that. Of course you weren't  long turning your back on Kellan I see."
Rhys flew at her knocking her back. "How dare you! I gave up everything to save his life."
Ali growled at her and Rhys could feel the shift in her. She couldn't take on a wolf right now in her condition.
She backed off.
Ali grinned. "I thought you would think otherwise. I know you're carrying twins--Diamond were cat."
Rhys froze. "You know what I am?"
"How could I not? Simon told us about his precious Diamond were cat daughter and how at all costs that she has to be protected."
Rhys felt a chill go through her. "What happened to Kellan? Is he dead?"
Ali's eyes sparkled. "Still have feeling for him even though your carrying another were cats babies?"  She went to the door and shut it. "I have my orders and that is to keep you here for the time being until I get word from your daddy."
"You sure laid down like a dead dog didn't you?"
She growled at her and Rhys knew she would love to bite her head off.
"I didn't lay down for nobody dear. I will get my pack back, mark my word."
"How do you plan on doing that since Garrett took over your pack--kill him?"
"Never mind it's too complicated to get into with you and I don't particularly want to share it with you anyway."
"I see,"said Rhys. "So you are just to guard me till daddy gets heer and when will that be?"
She shrugged. "He will be here soon." Rhys picked up something in the way she said that. It had an undertone of something going on. Ali was on edge and Rhys took note of another thing. This attack was over. Everything was quiet. She couldn't quite figure this out. What was really going on?
Rhys edged her way over to the door to listen. The two young wolves that were guards were not there. She couldn't pick up their scent.
Rhys eyed Ali who was staring at the window as if she was expecting someone to come bursting through it.
She quietly rested her hand on the door handle watching Ali the whole time. She still had her speed and could out run a wolf. Without giving it a second thought Rhys flung the door open and ran out taking the stairs two a time. When she got to the landing she took a quick look up and Ali was staring down at her wide eyed. Rhys leaped the rest of the way down kicking the door open.
There was no one in the hallway or anywhere for that matter. She had to find Josh.
She picked one direction and went for it. Ali was going to be there in a few seconds.
Rhys stopped short when she picked up his scent--Kellan. He was alive. Relief washed over her. She went in the direction he was and when she got there he wasn't alone. Thor was with him.
Now she was confused. What the hell was going on? The attack, it did happen.
She stood at the opening of the study while they talked in low voices.
Rhys cleared her throat drawing their attention.
"What the hell are you doing out," growled Thor.
Rhys tilted her head at him. "Your bodyguard failed to do her job. I see you found Ali or she found you?"
Thor gritted his teeth.
Rhys marched in folding her arms. "What the hell is going on and where is Josh?"
Ali came rushing into the room although Rhys knew that she took her time.
Thor glanced over at her and gave her a dirty look but said nothing. Ali shut the door.
Rhys glanced over at Kellan who seemed to be studying her. Thor finally broke their stare by coming in front of Rhys. "You want to know what is going on? I'll tell you. This little group in here is going to take down Simon and Ali is keeping your little brother safe away from all this."
"And me? I don't count?"
"Oh you count. In a big way. The reason for the attack was to make it look real to those of Simon's and Garrett's pack. They will be here soon and the real attack will take place but we will have you for leverage."
Rhys raised an eyebrow up at him. "Leverage?"
"You're carrying two Diamond were cats and that is valuable."
"He will destroy you  and your little betrayers. It won't work."
Thor laughed. "That's what you think. It's just not our little pack here, we have others from here that would like to see Simon gone. They will help."
"You better hope they will," scoffed Rhys. "Because you're all dead otherwise." Her eyes rested on Kellan when she said that. His blue grey silver eyes shimmered at her. Her heart skipped a beat.
A knock at the door made them all turn.
One of the young wolves that was Rhys guard poked his head in. "We have trouble."
"What now,?" shouted Thor.
"Garrett and his pack are here and they want to talk."
"Garrett is here and not tearing the place apart?"
The young wolf shrugged his shoulders but Rhys could see fear in his eyes. That shook Rhys for some reason. Enough for her to go to the door.
"What are you doing?" Ali had grabbed her arm.
They looked at each other and Ali let go.
Rhys looked at them all.
"I'm going to talk to Garrett and I will settle this thing for once and for all." She took a deep breath and said. "If I don't come back in thirty minutes--fight like hell."

Thursday, 26 September 2013

Kellan came back.
He stared at Josh and then Thor. He only glanced at Rhys who shifted with unease.
"What you got," barked Thor.
Kellan was slightly taken back. "The informant told me that he is on his way and he has plenty of back up."
Thor grimaced. Rhys could hear a low growl come from him and it was directed at Josh. Rhys knew that he was blaming Josh for bringing Simon here a little sooner than he wanted.
"We have to gather the pack and prepare-all of them. Go!"
Kellan quickly left the room. Thor started to pace.
Rhys looked over at Josh who now looked worried and maybe a little regretful for telling Thor but Rhys was glad that he did as now she knew and could maybe finally do something about the situation that they were in.
"Let me defuse Simon. He will listen to me."
Thor narrowed his eyes at her. He shook his head.  "Little kitten, I don't know now if I should trust you. This whole allies thing I think now was just a ruse."
Rhys bit the inside of her cheek. Damn, I have to defuse him first. I don't need a wild rampant were wolf on my hands.
"Okay so you don't trust me. Send me out front when he arrives. If one of his henchmen try to kill me then you will know you can trust me."
"You're willing to face his pack without knowing what they have in store for us?"
Rhys nodded.
"You're crazier than I am. No kitten you and your brother are worth more to me alive than dead. I have something to bargain with when you're alive. Let's get you and your brother to a safe holding place."
Thor marched to the door and gestured for someone to come. A couple of young men were at the door in seconds. He talked to them in low whispers so Rhys couldn't make out the orders. The two young men looked at her and Josh. She was guessing these two where going to be their body guards.
Thor looked back at her. "Follow us."
Josh stared at his sister. Rhys nodded at him. He went by her side and they both followed Thor and the two young men down the hallway and stopped at a door that Rhys hadn't paid much attention to.
Thor unlocked the door and opened it. Before them was a flight of stairs that went up to some secret room.
They were almost in total darkness. The smell of dust and mold made Rhys almost dizzy. She placed her hand on her stomach as if protecting her twins. There was a small window on the first landing of the stairs. Rhys looked out but could see nothing but a shed.
The final flight of stairs took them to another locked door. Thor unlocked it. Rhys had to wonder how Thor knew all these passages in the house.
The room was almost bare of furniture. Just a beat up old couch and chair along with a small table that didn't look too stable. Rhys was glad to see a window. She made her way over to it but  like the other window only looked onto the same shed.
"Sorry for the scant surrounding and all. Not quite like your room complete with room service but it will do, right?"
Rhys scoffed at him.
Thor just grinned. His cell phone buzzed and everyone in the room froze. Thor looked at them all and gestured to the two young men to follow him out the door. The cell phone still buzzed in his pocket as he locked the door. Rhys flew to the door to try and listen but everything was just too muffled and then nothing. Thor had left.
Rhys went back to the window. They were quite high up. If she could shift she would break the window and get down but she couldn't in her condition.
She looked at Josh but there was no way she was going to allow him to shift to his wolf form or cat form and go for help. She wouldn't risk getting him killed. For a moment she wondered if he was a hybrid like Garret. Maybe he wasn't.
Rhys shook all those thoughts out of her head and tried to focus on a way to get them out of the room.
Josh joined her at the window. "Do you think we can get out this window?"
"It's a long drop. No roof to go on. If I could shift maybe I could do it but in my condition I can't shift."
"I can. Let me shift into my wolf form and let me go out the window."
Rhys shook her head. "You would never make it. Cat's have more agility than a wolf."
She was waiting for him to say something about shifting into cat form but he didn't so Rhys concluded that her little brother was no hybrid.
A rumble from downstairs echoed. They both turned to each other.
"Do you think father is here," asked Josh.
Rhys shook her head. "I don't know."
More rumbling came and this time louder.
"I think the attack is now taking place. We have to get out of here. Let's see if those two young wolves are still outside our door."
Rhys marched over to the door to try and catch their scent. There was nothing. She turned back to Josh. "They're not there. I'll try and pick lock this door."
She reached inside her pocket and pulled out a clip. Rhys inserted it into the lock and jiggled it. It clicked. She smiled to herself. "These old locks are a piece of cake."
Josh was instantly by her side. She carefully opened the door. There was no one there. All she could see was the pale light from the window casting it's light up the stairs. Rhys gestured for Josh to follow her. They made it down to the landing. The noises from down stairs were getting louder and there was a lot of crashing of things. Then a sudden thought came to her. She wondered how Kellan was. Was he hurt? All of a sudden she had to get down there as fast as she could. Her and Josh just got down two steps when the door at the bottom flew open.
One yelled back to the others. "They're here."
Rhys shivered. She didn't get a good feeling about being found. Something told her that the ones who found them weren't here to rescue them.
She pushed Josh back up the stairs. "Let's get back to the room and lock the door."
"What? Why? They found us now."
Rhys looked straight at him. "I have this bad feeling that the ones that have found us are not the ones we want finding us."
"What are you talking about?"
Loud footsteps were coming up the stairs. Rhys grabbed him and threw him into the room. Before she made it in she was grabbed. Rhys kicked her attacker sending them back against the wall. Others came up the stairs. Rhys had to shut the door and buy them some time but they were too fast. Josh came to her defense and started fighting them along with Rhys.
But they were out numbered. Two of them grabbed Josh and dragged him downstairs.
Rhys rushed toward them but was quickly grabbed back. The back of her neck was hot with the breath of a wolf.
Rhys turned around to face her attacker and stepped back.
It was Ali.

Thursday, 19 September 2013

Rhys almost spit at him. "I'm not one of your henchmen. If you want him gone that is your is job."
Thor's eyes were electric. "I thought you didn't care much for daddy. You wanted away from him to live your own life."
Rhys chewed the inside of her lip. "Yeah, something like that. I'm not going to kill him. I may not like him or I may even hate him but right now I have no reason to kill him-just yet."
Thor shook his head. "You're hard to read kitten. One minute you're ready to kill the whole works of them and now you're having second thoughts. Maybe I should reconsider being allies with you."
She smirked at him. "You want to be allies with me. You need me and you know it. And I was the one who suggested allies, remember?"
He crossed his arms and went over to where Kellan was standing. Rhys had almost forgotten that he was in the room. His eyes were going back and forth to them. She let out a steady breath. He had no idea who he was. It must be horrible she thought to not remember who you are. She had to do something about that. If she ever got a moment with Simon she would make him undo what he did. Even if it meant her exposure of who she really was to him.
Kellan and her locked eyes and this spark seemed to erupt between them. Rhys swallowed hard. Thor hit him on the arm breaking their contact.
"Go see what our contact has found out on where Simon is right now."
Kellan cleared his throat and left.
Rhys watched him leave shutting the door. She didn't realize how long she was staring when Thor cleared his throat.
She startled and felt the heat in her face grow warm. He was grinning. "You still have it bad for him don't you?"
Thor came around to the front of the desk. "You know Simon messed with his mind. He doesn't know your secret but I do. I could find away to get his memory back you know and then we can tell him who you really are."
Her eyes went wide. "You can get his memory back? Why haven't you done it?"
"Because of Simon and right now Kellan is quite cooperative the way he is."
Rhys gritted her teeth. "So you can run the show and give out the orders." She crossed her arms. "That suits you don't it?" Before he could respond she threw out a question  to him. "Why did you not ever have your own pack?"
His eyes narrowed in on her. "You think you know me pretty good don't you. You know nothing," he spit at her. "I had a good deal going with Ali until you came into Kellan's life. Then Ali had to get in on the hunt for the Diamond were cat."
"Does she know it's me or is she even alive since Garrett took over?"
Thor shrugged. "I missed all the action when Garrett took over. I never heard anything from her so I don't know."
"She's never tried to contact you?" Rhys knew she sounded like she didn't believe him but there was more to this than met the eye. Rhys could feel it.
Before he could answer her there was a knock on the door. The door opened before Thor could say come in.
It was Josh.
Rhys held her breath as Josh looked at her for just a moment and then addressed Thor.
"I have a message for you."
Thor just about growled at him. "What did you do?"
Josh grinned. "I didn't do anything. Father just gave me a message to give you. He says he on his way and he's mad as hell at you. I think that was what he said or else it was-you're going to hell."

Thursday, 12 September 2013

Rhys knew that Josh heard the conversation. She seen him disappear in a hurry. She also knew what he was thinking of her right now. Crazy was the first word that came into her head and another word also hovered in in her mind-traitor.
She let out a shaky breath. Rhys would deal with Josh later. Right now she had to find Jamie as she assumed Thor perhaps told her of their little agreement.
She was counting on it.
This would buy her trust perhaps and maybe inroads into this mess. One thing that puzzled her was why wasn't Simon breaking down the walls to his own place. He must know what went down. Or did he? She narrowed her eyes. Maybe Thor masterminded a pretty good plan here. She smirked. The bugger is smarter than what I thought.
A noise came from the office. Rhys decided to check it out. She quietly slipped down the hallway and stayed at the edge of the doorway and peered in. Her heart skipped a beat.
It was Kellan and he was alone.
His scent washed over her taking her to another time. Memories of him and her flooded her head taking her back to when she was the center of his life. It  almost hurt her chest as visions danced in front of her eyes of him smiling down at her with those silver eyes.
She gave her head a slight shake to bring herself back to reality. Rhys watched him as he was going through papers. There were stacks of papers on the desk that had been taken out of the filing cabinet. Rhys wondered what he was looking for.
Kellan ran his hand through his thick hair. She could feel the frustration in his body as if it was her own body. A sensation warmed her body as she watched him. She could see the muscle under his pale blue shirt tense. She so badly right now wanted to feel those tense muscles around her body. Her eyes half closed as she tried to remember what he felt like when her fingers use to travel the leanness of his body. Rhys remembered what he looked like naked and her mouth dropped open partly. She could almost feel his tight grip on her hip squeezing her as his hand travelled down between her legs. He was master of her domain.
His faded jeans were slightly ripped at the knee and hung a bit a low. She liked that pair on him the best. The material was soft and supple. The rip up by the waist was made by her as she one time tried to claw off those jeans.
She visualized walking up to him right now and slipping her arms around his waist and down into his pants. The reaction that he would have-that she wanted him to have in her mind. Getting hard for her and letting her know that she better not be just teasing him.
She smiled to herself. Oh the trouble she could get herself into with him and the "punishment" he would dole out to her.
It would be intoxicating.
Lying underneath him with his silver eyes looking down at her ready to take complete control over her made her wet. She could almost feel him enter her slowly and then with full force. A short gasp caught in her throat.
She realised she had just drawn his attention.
They stared at each other as the heat in her face got hotter and hotter. His lips slowly formed a smile.
"Why are you standing out here?"
Rhys startled as Thor stood beside her.
Her tongue was tied in knots.
"Come on lets go in shall we and discuss our little "alliance".
She followed Thor into the room. Thor went to the pile of papers on the table and looked at Kellan.
"Did you find it?"
Kellan shook his head. "He must have put it somewhere else."
Rhys had to sit down and collect herself. Being in the same room with Kellan was throwing her off her game.
Thor glanced over at her. "What is wrong with you?"
"Nothing," she snapped back at him. "I was just wondering what all of this is."
"This" is what your old man keeps from the rest of us. It evolves other packs that he is involved with. We need to know who they are here so we can be careful of who we approach."
"What were you really looking for?" Rhys narrowed her gaze at Thor trying to read him but he was such a complex creature it was hard to get a hold of where his head was at.
Thor bit his lip and she knew he was contemplating telling her but he had to decide if he trusted her enough.
"I'll tell you when I find it."
Kellan leaned against the desk making the rip she had made by his waist stretch a bit revealing more of his skin. She took a deep breath and tore her eyes away and focused on Thor.
"So what is the plan? I thought Simon would have torn down this house by now."
Thor chuckled. "Oh, he will when he finds out."
"He doesn't know?" Rhys thoughts about Simon were just confirmed. He didn't know.
Thor looked at her with his dark silver blue eyes. "But he will soon."
"You're going to tell him."
"No, I'm not going to tell him."
"Then what?" Rhys threw her hands up in the air.
"You're going to tell him."
Her hands flopped into her lap. "I'm going to tell him?"
"Yup, and you're going to bring him here."
Rhys was confused. "Why do you want me to bring him here?"
"Because I have a job for you."
Rhys crossed her arms. "What "job" would that be?"
"You're going to kill him."

Thursday, 5 September 2013

Josh sat in the kitchen playing with his spoon. He was thinking about what Rhys had said. He wondered if he could just ask her what the hell was going on.
He knew he couldn't.
He took a deep breath, shoved his bowl of cereal to the side and dragged his cell phone over. He tapped the screen with his finger bringing up his contacts. What was he going to say he thought. He remembered what Rhys said. That she wanted to come up to him so badly. Was Rhys right?
There was only one way to find out.
He stared at the screen waiting for a response but nothing. He smirked and shook his head. Just what I thought.
Josh shoved his chair out and went to get up when his phone vibrated. His eyes widened. Without touching it he looked down at the screen.
It was her.
He held his breath as he picked it up to read it. Meet me in the library.
Josh could hardly swallow. His heart started to pick up a faster pace and his hands suddenly got sweaty.
He grabbed the phone and went out the kitchen. His strides to the library weren't fast enough. Josh didn't think he would ever get there.
The door was partially open. He took a peek in. Her back was to him.
Josh took a deep breath and tried to steady the thumping in his chest. He knocked gently. She turned around and faced him. For a moment all they did was stare at each other.
When Josh finally entered the room she came flying over to him and threw her arms around him. Josh let out a silent puff of air. Rhys was right.
She looked up at him. "I've been miserable without you."
"Then why did you leave me?"
Her eyes cast down to the floor. Josh pulled her face up with his fingers under her chin. "Talk to me, Jamie. What the hell is going on? Is there someone controlling you?"
Her dark green eyes widened up at him. "I can't tell you anything."
Josh could feel the fear from her on his skin. It made him shiver.
"Jamie, I want you to tell me everything. I won't let them hurt you."
Her eyes became glossy. All she could do was shake her head.
He pulled her into his arms. "It's okay."
"This is cozy."
Both of them startled and turned to the door. Thor stood there grinning. "Are we having a little reunion here? What did I tell you Jamie about the enemy and who the enemy was?"
She pulled away from Josh. He tried to pull her back but she wouldn't let him.
Josh threw an angry glance at Thor. "What lies have you filled her head with or should I say what threats have you made on her?"
Thor chuckled.
"Take it easy pup, I didn't have to threaten her. All I had to do was tell her the truth."
Josh smirked. "Your truth would amount to lies."
He looked over at Jamie. "You have to know that what he is doing is wrong. He kidnapped my sister and me. He just wants revenge against father."
Jamie just kept looking from Josh to Thor. Josh positioned himself between her and Thor blocking her vision of him. "Listen to me Jamie. He is using you here in this game of his. You have to break a way from him before he gets you killed."
Her lower lip quivered.
Now he was only inches away from her. "Look at me." Her teary eyes looked up at him. "Have I ever lied to you?"
She gave her head a quick shake.
"Then you will believe me when I tell you that you are in great danger being with him. You will be nothing but causality to him when the war breaks out."
Jamie was starting to lose it.
"That's enough pup." He shoved him a side and grabbed Jamie by the arm. "This is enough reunion for you."
He marched her out of the room. Josh was hot on their trail. They made it just part way down the hallway when Josh was grabbed. He furiously turned around to see who was stopping him. It was Rhys.
"What are you doing? Can't you see he's hurting her?"
Rhys was stone faced. "He's not going to hurt her, at least not right now. But he will hurt you to get her to do his bidding so I would stop irritating him."
"I can't let him get a way with this."
Rhys grabbed Josh roughly by the arm. "You leave Thor alone. I'll take care of him. I know how he operates."
He glared at her. "What are you going to do then?"
Rhys tilted her head at him. "Just trust me okay little brother. I know how to handle the likes of Thor. I've confronted his type before."
Josh smirked. "So you have no plan at all, is what you're saying."
She narrowed her eyes at him. "I should cuff your ears for that. But I will show you instead." Her eyes went behind him. Josh looked. Thor was standing at the end of the hallway talking to Kellan.
"You still love him don't you?"
Rhys cleared her throat. "Never mind that. I will deal with that later. For now I have to talk to Thor."
She walked past Josh and walked briskly up to the men. They both stopped talking and stared at her.
"I want to talk to you Thor, privately." Her eyes glanced over at Kellan. His scent filled her and almost made her sway but she stopped herself.  I have to stay in control.
Thor smiled at Kellan and then her. "I'll grant you one minute of of my precious time kitten and then back to your room you go. Between you and your little brother, you two are giving me a headache." He looked at Kellan. "I'll meet up with you."
Kellan and Rhys looked at one another for a second before he turned and left. Rhys watched him for a moment. She didn't realize Thor was almost nose to nose with her.
"He gets to you still, don't he?"
Rhys gritted her teeth and with one swift movement threw Thor over her shoulder. Now she was standing over him with her high heeled boot on his chest.
He was grinning up at her.
Rhys cautiously  bent down toward him. "You and I have something to discuss."
"What would that be kitten?"
"We're going to talk about becoming allies."
Thor chuckled. "Now that's the kitten I know."
