DIAMONDS-Part 17-Future Plans

Rhys paced back and forth in the kitchen like a cat caught in a cage. There was now another wolf out there that wanted her dead. Only this one wanted her powers. She would give him her powers alright.
What worried her most was that this wolf had a pack behind him to help.
"If you pace any harder, you'll make a path in the floor."
Rhys stopped and stared at Kellan. He was standing in the kitchen entrance in jeans only and his hair was messed up and he hadn't shaved in a couple of days. He looked damned sexy thought Rhys.
Kellan grinned as he sauntered over to her. He pulled her into his arms and it felt like she was being swallowed up in his arms. Why did she feel so small all of a sudden?
"We'll figure this wolf out and why he is after you."
She nuzzled her head against his chest breathing in his wolf scent that was his own Kellan scent. Rhys would know it anywhere now.
She could feel the solid beat of his heart and the heat from his skin against her cheek. It was becoming all too familiar with her now and she was growing comfortable with him him.  But she had lied to him and Thor. She did know what the wolf wanted and if he knew that he was holding the Diamond were cat in his arms? She shuddered to think what his reaction would be.
Kellan looked down at her. "What's wrong? You're deep in thought kitten and I want to help but you have to open up to me."
She looked back up at him. His silver eyes were so serene and peaceful even though she could tell by the fine lines around his eyes that he was deeply concerned.
"This is for me to figure out Kellan. I can take care of myself and that wolf, all at the same time." She managed to give him a half smile. By the look on Kellan's face he wasn't buying it.
"You don't know that wolf kitten and you sure as hell don't what that pack of his can do to you. If you were lucky they would kill you outright but that's not their style. It would be a slow painful death."
A pang hit Rhys in the chest. She didn't know that. Even with her power, this wolf did give the impression that he knew how to take her power, unless he was lying in which,in any case she didn't want to find out.
"Then what am I to do Kellan? I don't trust Thor or the pack."
He grinned. "What about me?"
She felt her face flush. "Yeah, I trust you." Even though she knew his trust in her was misplaced.
"Tell me one thing Kellan."
"Sure."
"Why do you want this Diamond were cat killed?"
He gave her a surprised look. "What does the Diamond were cat have to do with you or this situation with the wolf?"
Rhys stood back crossing her arms. Her eyes fell to her feet.
It was time to test the waters with Kellan.
"It's important to me to know the reason, that's all."
"The Diamond were cat killed someone that meant a lot to me."
"So, it's revenge then?"
Kellan sighed. " Yes I  guess but to me its giving out a punishment that is deserving."
Rhys had to know, "Who did this Diamond were cat kill, your mate?"
She watched his silver eyes darken. She had hit a tender nerve.
Kellan didn't answer her. Instead he shook his head as if Rhys had brought up some painful memories that he didn't want to remember.
"It doesn't matter right now. We have a much bigger problem to deal with right now. This pack means trouble and  not just for Ali, Thor and the rest of the pack but you. It's you they want and I want to know why."
Rhys took a deep breath. "They want my power."
Kellan blinked at her. "What?"
"They want my power."she repeated in a louder voice.
Kellan narrowed his eyes at her. "Your power, but your jewel cat powers would be no real use to them unless it's the venom that you have that seems to be more lethal ." His eyes widened. "They could use that as a weapon."
She watched Kellan. It was  like now he had figured it out but in actual fact he had only figured out a tiny bit. They wanted the Diamond were cat's power and that was  her standing in front of him.
Rhys had to wonder if Kellan knew the truth about her; would he kill her on the spot and hand her dead body over to the wolf to save themselves? She knew the answer. No he would not, he would not put all of the wolves out there in danger like that. He would just simply kill her.
She couldn't bring herself to tell him the truth even though he deserved to know. Rhys had to figure out how she was going to play this out. She had to make future plans and maybe that meant leaving.
Kellan gathered her up protectively wrapping his arms around her. She felt  breakable in his arms and wanted to tell him everything and get it over with whatever with was going to bring.
"We'll figure this out kitten, don't worry."
Rhys closed her eyes. She had to make some future plans and she had to get her game on and settle this with this new wolf in town and she knew the first thing she was going to do to resolve this problem.
She was going to pay Ali a visit and cure her.

DIAMONDS-Part 16 - Game Changer

Rhys raced over to Kellan. She dropped to the ground and leaned over his wolf body. His eye facing her stared with a glassy blankness that only death could see through.
Rhys ran her hand through his fur as if it was her touch that he was waiting for to bring him back. Tears started to sting at her eyes. He couldn't be gone!
"Come on, wake up!"
She shook him and that's when she noticed at her knees-blood. There was a pool of dark red blood touching her knee. Rhys carefully turned him over on his side and there was a deep open cut. . He was bleeding to death.
Rhys looked around. She felt like she was being watched as her eyes scanned the yard and the nearby trees for any sign of an intruder. Rhys had to do something-now. She placed her hands over the wound and summoned an energy that traveled through her body to Kellan.
The energy thrummed through her arms sending her into this state of shock almost. It was always tough healing. It took from her an energy that could leave her vulnerable to her enemies as she would lose her ability to shift for awhile. But she had to do something.
It was working, she could tell. She just had to keep going.
"What the hell happened?"
She could not stop what she was doing. Out the corner of her eye she could see Thor coming towards them.
Thor knelt down on the other side of Kellan. "Is he dead?"
Through gritted teeth ,she snarled at him, "Shut up,I'm trying to heal him."
Thor's dark eyes shot her a look. "Heal him?"
"Shut up, okay? I need to concentrate."
Thor remained still at Kellan's side as he watched Rhys do her healing on Kellan.
Kellan's wolf body jerked under her hands. The wound had closed but was still red. He would heal quite fast though.
Rhys let her hands fall away and almost collapsed on top of Kellan but Thor caught her. "Let's get you both in the house, where we can talk."
Rhys was too drained to argue with him. She had enough strength to pick herself up while Thor scooped up Kellan and followed her into the house.
They went into the kitchen where Thor set Kellan down on the floor. He would be shifting as soon as he woke up. Rhys went and got one of her energy drinks. That always helped to take off the edge of the side effects of healing.
"You actually healed him?"
Rhys nodded too tired to start a debate over what had happened.
Thor looked around the kitchen and saw the broken window and the gun on the floor along with the silver tipped arrows that were laying on the floor with blood on them.
Thor raised his eyebrows at her. "You two must have had one hell of a fight. Did you do this to him kit?"
She sneered at him. "No, I did not to that to him, the intruder did."
Thor swiftly walked up to her confronting her. "What intruder?"
She looked up at him. "I guess your little ghost wolf that Kellan and I thought you saw actually exists."
His eyes widened. "He attacked you? What did he want?"
Rhys shrugged, she wasn't about to give him details. "A pound of my kitty flesh? I don't know know. He's a cat hater."
She could feel Thor's eyes burn though her. Rhys knew he wasn't buying her story.
He backed off and walked around Kellan who was still lying still but was alive. Thor looked down at Kellan for a long time and then back at her.
"You want to tell me what really happened kit? If there is a new pack in town, I want to know if they are going to be a threat to us or if he is as you say, a kitten hater."
Rhys threw him a look. "He didn't exactly sit down and have tea with me as you can see. He was a little busy trying to rip my head off." Rhys tilted her head at Thor.
"I can tell you this though dog boy, those silver tips on my arrows didn't seem to faze him."
Thor cringed, "Really now."
Rhys walked around Thor trying to feel for a vibe off of him. "Do you know him?"
His dark eyes met her. "Let's just say, I've heard of him and his pack. They're trouble."
A whimper from the floor drew their attention away from their conversation. Kellan was waking. Rhys went to him and ran her fingers through his gruff.
"You're alright Kellan."
Kellan raised his head and looked up at her with his silver eyes. She pulled her hand away as if his look was a warning. He shifted before her eyes. A very naked Kellan was lying on the floor. A red mark ran down the side of his ribs. His human wound would be nothing but bad bruising.
He looked at her and then at Thor. "What happened and how did I heal?"
Thor grinned. "You can thank your little kitten for that. She saved you."
Kellan shot up and stood in front of Rhys. His chest was moving up and down in a rapid motion. Rhys was almost mesmerized with the rise and fall of his chest. She wanted to rest her hand on his very warm skin. His strong wolf scent tickled her nose.
Her eyes also traveled down further past his abdomen where a trail of hair led to his manhood. He came closer to her.
He pulled her chin up to make her look into his eyes. "You can have all of me when you tell me what happened here."
She backed up crossing her arms in front of her. "Thor's imaginary friend exists. He crashed through the window and attacked me."
"Are you alright?"
 Rhys nodded.
"I was ambushed before I could even fight back." Kellan turned his attention to Thor.
"Do you know who it is?"
Thor looked a Rhys for a second and then looked at Kellan. "He's part of a pack that is paying our little community a visit. I just don't know what they want or who they want." He looked at Rhys when he said who.
Rhys shifted uncomfortably away from them both.

"We need to look into this Kellan. With Ali down, we are vulnerable for an attack."
He narrowed his gaze at Rhys. "We also have to figure out what he was doing here. Why did he attack your little kitten?"
Kellan closed the space between them. Rhys could smell the sweat on his skin and could feel the heat that radiated off of him. When she looked up at him she could see tiny lines around his silver grey eyes. She could feel a genuine concern from him.
In a quiet voice she said, "I have no idea why he attacked me."
She swallowed hard. Rhys had lied to him. Things were more complicated now. She was in trouble and she wasn't about to drag him into this new war that was brewing. She would have to cut him free-maybe leave town for a while and figure stuff out.
"I think you should both leave, I have a headache. I need to rest a bit."
Kellan smirked. "I'm not going anywhere kitten until I find out what you're hiding."
Thor laughed. "Good luck on that. You might have to beat it out of her."
Kellan threw him a dirty look.
"Just saying, I think our little kit here is keeping something from us and I think whatever the little secret is, is why that wolf pack is in town."
Rhys gritted her teeth. "Get out Thor; go and tend to Ali or something."

He smirked. "Well, all I got to say before I leave is, it's a game changer now kit and you know it. Neither Kellan nor I are going to let you out of our sights now." He chuckled as he left.
"Pig" she sneered.
Kellan stood there naked in front of her. "The pig is gone now; it's just you and me."
She let herself fall into his arms where she pushed herself up against his nude body. He wrapped his arms tightly around her.
"I know you don't trust Thor but you have to start trusting one of us and I think you better start trusting me if you want to survive that pack. If it's the one that I think Thor is talking about, they are bad-ass  They will kill for what they want."
Rhys rested her head against his chest. That was a question she had to ask her self, was she willing to die to hide her identity?

DIAMONDS-Part 15 The Hidden One

"Are you talking about the wolf?" Rhys tried to peek over and around Kellan who was blocking her.
"It's scent is one I've never encountered before. Stay inside while I go around the house."
"I'll come with you." Kellan stared down at her warning her to do as she was told.
"Fine, I'll stay but if you're not back in five, I'm out there." She met his gaze. He was gone.
The door was firmly shut. She thought of the back door. She was sure it wasn't locked. Rhys turned in a hurry to get to it and lock it. Not that that would keep a wolf out. Never the less she locked it. She would need weapons.
She ran to her study to the special locked cabinet. The key was hidden underneath a shell on the desk nearby.
Rhys grabbed her bow and arrow with the silver tips and some silver knives. She also grabbed her gun and loaded it with silver bullets. Rhys was ready.
The front door made a noise. Something told her it wasn't Kellan. She slid along the wall and took a quick look down the hallway. The door was still shut.
Something wasn't right. Instead of opening the front door she decided to go upstairs to her room where there was a balcony outside her bedroom doors. It also led to the flat part of the roof that she like to sit sometimes. She would be able to see the entire front yard there.
Rhys raced up the stairs and into her bedroom. She couldn't believe that she was concerned for Kellan. He was out to kill her after all and here she was out to protect him from some strange lone wolf or it could be a possible wolf pack moving in on Ali's territory. She wondered for a second if the word had got out about her.
Never the less this wolf was on her territory. She would find out what was going on. As soon as she opened the sliding glass doors to go out on to the balcony, the scent hit her in the face. Never had she ever encountered such a strong scent. What the hell kind of wolf was this?
Very cautiously she stepped out keeping her eyes and ears alert for any movement. By the stench the thing was close by. Rhys climbed off the balcony onto the roof onto to the flat piece of roof. She could survey the front part of the yard from here. There was nothing.
As light as her four feet would have carried her she leaped onto the other side of the roof that was facing the back yard. She crouched down and listened.
She didn't like the silence. She stood up part way to get a better look but there was nothing. Maybe they were staying close to the house.
Rhys was going to call out but thought better of it. What if this wolf had Kellan?
She would have to go back in. Once inside Rhys headed for the stairs and stopped short. There was someone down there.
Rhys got her bow set, ready to shoot. Silently she went down one step at a time. Halfway down she held still. She listened. It was confusing as it sounded like they were inside but not. So she continued going down the stairs.
Rhys stopped at the bottom of the stairs. She could see into the study but there was nobody there and on the other side she could see into the kitchen. She went towards the kitchen.
Rhys held her bow ready to shoot but nothing. The hair on her neck was standing up.
The sound of crashing glass filled the kitchen.
Rhys didn't think twice, she fired off her bow hitting the wolf in the flank. The wolf howled when the silver hit. She grabbed another bow and fired again.
Rhys went for her gun and aimed it now at the chest of the wolf. It's eyes were fire. Rhys was taken aback by the eyes. She had never seen that before. It was also not that bothered by the silver tipped arrows.
Rhys had just pissed it off more. "Well. maybe silver bullets are more to your liking. She fired the gun but the wolf leaped over her. Rhys whirled around to fire again.
The wolf stood there with the two arrows in its flank. She fired the gun and again the wolf dodged the bullet but this time body slammed her so fast that she lost her gun. It went slithering across the floor. There was no time to go for it. She whipped out one of her knives.
"You are endless my sweet." He had shifted. His matte of black hair covered his eyes. He towered over her on the floor. A well muscled lean machine was in front of her ready to take her on.
The two arrows were on the floor. How did he get them out? She didn't see any wounds on him. Rhys held the silver blade in front of her ready to strike.
He laughed at her. "You think your little silver knife will actually cut me?"
"I could cut open your chest with my little silver knife."
He smiled showing a row of perfect white teeth. "That would be interesting."
She grinned at him. "You want me to show you interesting?"
She shifted and in an instant leaped at him with full claws out. He was quicker. Rhys whirled around to face him.
"You're actually her, the Diamond were cat. This is my lucky day."
She hissed baring her teeth at him.
He threw up his hands. "Hey, let's make a truce why don't we?"
She growled as she slowly made her way to him ready to rip him apart.
"Now, come on little jewel kitty, lets put those venomous claws away. I could get out of here faster than you could leap at me. So why don't you shift back and you and I can have a little talk?"
Rhys shifted holding her silver knife. "You have five seconds to talk wolf boy before I carve you up and just to let you know my scratches can be just as nasty."
He chuckled. "I don't doubt it. You have something that my pack would like."
She glared at him.
"The power of your jewel and now that I know you are really the Diamond were cat, the power of your diamond."
She scoffed at him. "You must have rabies or something."
He gritted his teeth. "You certainly have a smart mouth don't you? Well, I could just take it and leave you dead."
Rhys lunged at him with her knife and this time she made contact. The silver knife was buried in his shoulder. He went to grab her but with one quick swipe she scratched him across the right cheek.
He pulled away and before she could get her gun he was gone.
Rhys raced out the front door that the wolf left open but there was no sign of him. His scent was even gone. The only one she could pick up now was Kellans.
She raced around the house and there on the lawn was a silver wolf lying there as still as death.

DIAMONDS-Part 14-OUTSIDER

Thor arrived in front of Rhys house in his wolf form but then shifted  He started to pace. Thor knew where all his enemies were at the moment. He came to confront Rhys about the diamond dagger and where she got such a powerful weapon.
When he got closer to the house, it hit him like a brick wall--a wolf scent. The scent was strong. Thor didn't like this. What was a lone wolf doing here last night? That would be another question to ask the little kit.
Whoever this was left a burnt taste in his mouth.

                   *****

Rhys stretched out in bed reaching her hand over his bare chest. She traced her nail over from one nipple to the other. His silver eyes opened slightly in her direction. He never moved but his senses were alert waiting to see what she was going to do.
She grinned at him. Within a second she was on top of him pinning his arms above his head. Rhys knew he could probably throw her off but she didn't think he would be too interested considering she was flicking her tongue at his nipples making him groan.
His harness was pressing against her legs trying to find a certain destination. She slid his hardness inside of her making them both moan. She played with him for a while teasing him until he flipped her and took over-aggressively. Rhys dug her claws in him but he didn't care.
Rhys was over whelmed by the scent of wolf. It was so strong, her nose twitched.
When they found their release, Rhys could feel the shift in his body.
He didn't shift but the instinct do so was there. That kind of would put them at odds-maybe.This could be complicated but then it already was.
The doorbell rang and whoever it was kept pushing it.
Rhys grabbed a cover and went to march down stairs when Kellan grabbed her by the arm. "You don't know who that is."
"If it was someone who was going to attack me, I don't think they would be ringing the door bell."
Kellan grabbed the door knob and flung it open. Thor was standing there and looked like a brewing storm.
"What took you so long?" he growled.
Before Kellan could answer he waved his hand at him and walked in.
Kellan scoffed at him, "Make yourself at home, why don't you?"
"Shut up, we have to talk here about your little kitten."
Rhys's eyes shot a look at him. What was the idiot going to do now?
"It seems that you and I are not the only wolves Rhys know. When I got here this morning there was a very strong wolf scent here last night. "Who was it kit?"
Thor looked at her waiting for an answer and even Kellan seemed to be waiting.
She crossed her arms gritting her teeth at both of them.
"I don't know who that would be. I don't exactly make wolves my pals."
"Well, you've got one 'pal' out there that knows you. Who is it?"
"Rhys narrowed her gaze at him. She was thinking she should have slit his throat when she had the chance. She pointed her finger at hm instead. "I don't care what you think but I  don't know any other wolves."
Thor walked around the room never taking his eyes off of her. It seemed he was ready for anything. "Then where did you get the silver dagger?"
Kellan looked confused now and Rhys shot him another look. So much for their little agreement she fumed.
"What silver dagger?" asked Kellan.
"I saw her fight with it at the club."
Rhys cautiously listened to this lie. She never took out her dagger at Ali.
Kellan looked at her. "You used a dagger on Ali? I thought you clawed her and released your venom into her."
Rhys was watching Thor to see what he was going to say but he wasn't offering any more details to his lie. He was waiting for her to do it.
She had to think fast. "I have a lot of different knives and daggers. I do have a silver dagger but I'm not sure that I had it with me that day so I'm  not sure what Thor thought he saw."
Kellan was ready to grab Thor and throw him out.
Thor just smirked at Rhys, "I see you don't share your secrets with Kellan." He laughed softly. "Oh well, you'll self destruct soon enough kit. When Kellan finds out who you really are and about that other wolf? It better not be some alliance you have going with another pack."
Rhys hissed at him ready to scratch. Kellan wrapped his arms around her. "He's not worth it love."
Kellan gave Thor a warning look. "Get the hell out!"
Thor threw his hands up in the air. "I'm going but I will see you both later. And another thing, just to let you know, Ali is not doing very well. The healers can't figure this one out. It seems kit, that you are a very special jewel cat. Maybe you can explain that to Kellan."
He sauntered out the door shutting it abruptly.
Rhys was ready to shift and pursue him and this time she would use her diamond dagger to to the job right but Kellan was still hanging on to her.
"Let it go Rhys, he's only trying to stir trouble between us."
Rhys started to relax in his arms. She knew Kellan was right. The guy was an ass hole and a trouble maker. Why did she ever make a deal with him?
"Do you think he's telling the truth about the other wolf?"
"No, Kellan, I don't know any strange lone wolf stalking me."
Kellan jerked his head toward her and silver eyes grew dark when she said the word 'stalk'. "What do you mean by that?"
Rhys just scoffed. "I don't know, whatever lie Thor was thinking, it is just a lie. There is no wolf out there, I would know if someone was on my tail."
"Some wolves can track another without detection. Why would another wolf be following you?"
Rhys was getting frustrated with Kellan. He believed Thor. "There is no other wolf  out there--period. I would know--believe me, I would."
Kellan looked at the door.
"What? Is he back?"
"No, I'm going out there to see what I can pick up."
Rhys rolled her eyes and threw up her hands. "So much for listening to me" she said.
Kellan ignored her banter and opened the door. Rhys was behind him. She felt his body go rigid.
"What is it?"
"The wolf is here."
