SHORT STORY-FINDING YOU

The sun couldn't shine any brighter on a day that was so sad. It would have been so much better if it
had been raining with lightening and loud thunder for extra drama. It would have suited her.
My dark navy sweater had not been washed for some time but it was her favorite so I pulled it over my head smelling my old cologne that had seeped into the fibres. My body felt slow and heavy and soon the car would be here to pick me up. How was I going to make my legs move?
The vibration of my cell phone appeared to be the answer as my legs instantly went towards it. The voice at the other end was heavy and low but I knew it was my brother Sam. Are you ready he wanted to know as if I maybe couldn't do the task myself? Assurances that I did do the task finally satisfied him and he hung up. The cell phone dropped out of my hand onto the bed with a thud. Looking out the window at the bright sky made me shiver despite the heat that would burn us. The sweat on my hands was already there.
The sound of the espresso machine hissing drew me out of my hiding in the bedroom. The little brown cup that she gave me was sitting beside it waiting to be filled. She always did the filling. My fingers felt wrong sliding though the small handle that was smooth and cool to touch. Taking a deep breath I slid the cup into place and let the steaming liquid fill my little cup. I didn't do the frothy milk. The sound of her voice in my head saying I was so weird drinking it that way made me smile.
The hot coffee burned my tongue and I cursed under my breath. Why didn't I blow on it?  A loud knock made me almost drop the cup on the table. Let me in the voice demanded on the other side of the door. Rolling my eyes I walked over to the door and opened it. A rush of air hit me along with a body. The smell of cheap perfume and bare arms rubbing against my face and shoulders made my body stiffen.
Emotional hugs were not my thing but given the day it was okay. Black stained mascara eyes that had been crying stared back at me. Are you holding up she wanted to know or more like demanded to know. That's Des. She never asked you anything, she always demanded it from you.
Des marched straight to the espresso machine and took out a cup and plunked it down in place. She looked down at the machine with a sad face as if remembering whose machine it belonged to. Why did this have to happen she said out loud? Her face was facing the machine as if she was asking it.
Letting out a shaky breath I walked quietly over to her and gave her the milk for the froth. Tears slipped down her cheeks and for a moment I didn't think she was going to take the milk but she snapped out of it and grabbed the milk.
The car will be here soon to pick me up I told her. Des glanced over at me and quietly nodded. She sat down with me at the table. Awkward silence settled in between us. Neither one of had the strength to talk about her. We drank our coffee staring down at our cups avoiding each others eyes.
A gentle knock drew our attention to the door. He's here I said. Des got up slowly taking both our cups to the sink. She put a little water in each one. I knew she remembered her doing that so there wouldn't be any coffee rings in the bottom of the cup.
Sam came into the apartment looking as if someone had beaten him. Feelings of regret weighing him down by the way he carried his body was evident. Reaching out to him would do no good.
Des grabbed her purse and gave my brother a quick hug.  A small smile came my way before she disappeared out the door. That left the two of us. Sam was a good foot taller than me. He always carried himself  so much better than I ever did but then he did so much more with his life. He went to college and graduated with Honor's, and got a good job. The only thing that Sam couldn't do was commit..
He had gone through a lot of girlfriends, including her. She kicked him out of her life and for good reason-he cheated. Sam glanced around the room maybe seeing if this was all true and he would see her sitting in her favorite chair but we both knew that wasn't going to happen.
Sam wanted to know if I was ready. I said yes and told him I had to get my phone out of the bedroom. When I came out Sam had already left. The memories I knew were too much for him.
The heat of the day hit me when I stepped out onto the street. I shouldn't have wore the sweater but I would leave it on long enough until this whole thing was over. The car would have air at least.
The sun did it's best to shine  with a clear blue sky to show it off. How I would have given anything for some cloud to hide its perfection. The car stopped at the edge of the cemetery. Sam looked over at me. The tightness in his face told me he didn't want to go out there and face this. I told him we had to-for her.
Des was already there with a few of her friends. They were consoling each other. At least there was some shade. That is where I headed. It meant that I was a way from the crowd a bit but that was okay. It was a step away from sadness. She wouldn't mind, the ones that really needed to be up front where there.
A stone bench caught my eye and I went and sat down quietly looking down at the gravel and grass. A dandelion had started to grow in the gravel. Not sure how long time had passed but I felt this presence next to me.
The voice that spoke to me was quiet but still got my attention. A guy close to my age had sat down at the other end of the bench. I had never seen him before and yet there was something very comforting and familiar about him.
He told me his name was Jon. I told him my name was James and we smiled at each other for a moment. It felt like I was supposed to meet this person for some reason. Jon wanted to know how long I had known her. It was like forever I told him and then I looked at him and asked how he knew her.
Jon gave me a strange look and then moved closer to me. I didn't get uncomfortable with such a move. Jon smiled at me and said to me that they had known each other a long time. The way he said long felt like he was talking about a lifetime.
Then he came closer. Jon leaned in to me almost touching me and whispered to me that we knew each other for long time as well. Looking at Jon's face didn't remind me of our relationship.
When everything was over Jon asked if he could keep me company and for some reason I said yes. Everybody had gone to gather at the family's home but I didn't want to go. Sam was going so that was good enough I thought.
Jon and I went to a small outdoor café. There was something about Jon that held me. Jon bought over two regular coffees handing me one. At first our talk was nothing but small talk but then Job started to talk about her. When I looked into his face I noticed that the color of his eyes were the same as hers. That made me feel weird but I shook it off. Talking about her with Jon felt like an out of body experience. It was like watching two guys who knew each forever talk about everything and her.
Jon asked if I would like to go out sometime. He certainly didn't hold back. I shrugged my shoulders not knowing what to say. I hadn't been in any relationship for some time. Before I could come up with some excuse he set a date for us and told me he would pick me up.
There was no way of getting out of the date so I was about to tell him where I lived but he waved his hand. Jon smiled at me, he had a wonderful smile, the kind that made your heart stop. He reminded me that we had known each other for a long time and that he knew already where I lived.
We walked back to his car. Jon insisted that he take me back to my apartment. Finally I let him and sure enough he knew where I lived. Looking over at him I told him that I knew for sure we didn't know each other and that it was a bit creepy that he knew where I lived.
That statement made him laugh and I couldn't help but join in. Jon finally told me that he had taken her home on occasion so he knew the address. That was odd the way he said it. Something in the tone of his voice told me that there was a story that involved her.
We both came into the apartment where I instantly took off the sweater. The shirt underneath stuck to me. I told Jon to help himself to a beer in the fridge while I changed my clothes. What I really needed was a shower.
When I came back out he had a beer for both of us. The way Jon moved around the room convinced me that he had been here before. He flopped himself comfortably in her chair like it was always something he did. I stared at him and almost became angry but I shook it off. It was silly to feel that way. It was only a chair. It got the better of me and I asked him if he and she had dated?
Jon smiled. His voice carried over to me so carefully. In a way he said, I've been here with you the whole time. I've finally have caught up to and found you.
Now I was confused and asked him to explain what he meant.
He moved up in the chair to sitting on the edge. He looked at me and I knew he wanted me to sit down. When I did he gave me a warm smile. The story he proceeded to tell me was unbelievable and not meant to be believed but the more he talked the more I felt what he was talking about.
Jon told me it was 1918 and we both had arrived in the US from England. Out fathers had sent us here to find work and make a life for ourselves in a new world. Jobs did come to us but it was tough  Jon said and keeping our secret away from a harsh world was even tougher.
The night that he touched on left me shaken. Jon said that he loved music and wanted to take me to a show. We went but someone from work was there as well and they always suspected that there was something between us. A fight broke out ending with him being severely beaten. In the next breath he told me that he died.
Jon reached out and took my hand. In a very firm voice he said it was true. The next story was in 1942. We were back in England fighting in the war. It had been a day of heavy casualties. The men had brought me in and the nurses did what they could but nothing could be done. Jon said that he was there holding my hand when I died.
My eyes must have so wide with these wild tales that he took a good firm hold of my hands and made me look him in the eyes-the color of her eyes.
Jon said that time has separated us for far too long until the last ten years when he made a connection to me again. This was too surreal to believe I told him. I asked him if he if he wanted me to believe that he had been her.
His smile was warm. It doesn't matter what you believe he said. What was important was now that he had found me.
I couldn't even throw him out for some reason. There was something about Jon that made me keep him there because if I threw him out I would lose him and that was not a good thing my conscience  told me.
I asked him to tell more stories. He did just that. He told me more war stories and about our boat ride over here in 1918 and when the stories where done, I demanded like Des does, that he prove to me that these wild tales where true. Jon said he would.
The next weeks of my life were filled with stories and things that no one would know about me, not even Sam, Des or her. Each time he touched my hand it was like he was trying to connect the dots for me. Finally after one of our nights together I turned to him and asked why he had wanted to find me. Why not let me go I asked him.
Jon smiled and told me that some loves no matter what form they take over time are worth chasing and hanging onto. I laughed. So I was worth the chase I asked. Jon pulled me closer and whispered in my ear. Yeah he said because we have so many more stores to make and tell over time. And this story here will end one day but this time we will stay together, now that I found you.
I told him I didn't believe him and that he was making all this shit up to get me into bed with him. Jon smirked and said that I knew otherwise. I kissed him.
Time has a way of sneaking up. I soon forgot the stories and fell into a life with Jon. We were back at the same little café where we first had our first coffee together. Jon had been going through some rough stuff. I did my best to console him and it was working but there was something on his mind.
Jon told me about dreams that he was having and that they always meant something bad was going to happen. Dreams I said to him were not real and to forget about it. Jon sat next to me letting our thighs touch. Jon I said you need to go for a walk with me and talk this out and then you will see I told him that dreams mean nothing.
I took both our cups and took them back to the café. It had only been a few seconds or at least it felt that way. I shouted at him to get back but he was so engrossed in thought that he didn't see the oncoming truck. My feet leapt towards Jon.
I finally believed him when I saw the colors. Flashes of light lit up the night sky and the sounds of bombs going off deafened my ears. The smells of mud and soldiers blood mixed with fear filled my nose and lungs and almost pulled me down drowning  me in the swill that froze my feet. The sea smell took me out of there and on to a boat that rocked making my insides turn. Someone next to me held me tightly. I knew it was Jon.
Image after image played out in front of me and I could reach out and touch each and everyone one of them and remember them. Quietness finally settled around me and I looked for Jon but couldn't see him. My eyes tried to find him and then with relief there he was coming towards me. Jon smiled at me as he got closer and my heart melted.
He pulled me into his arms and whispered into my ear. I heard the words I found you.

ACCIDENT ON 3RD AND 5TH. TWO MEN WERE KILLED WHEN ONE OF THEM STEPPED OUT IN FRONT OF A TRUCK. WITNESSES SAY THE OTHER ONE TRIED TO PULL HIM OUT OF THE WAY BUT IT WAS TOO LATE.

Hi Everyone. I hope you enjoyed my strange little tale. I might do some more cat fiction next week in the form of a short story. We'll see what happens. Have a great weekend!

FLASH FICTION-KITTEN THOUGHTS

Hi everyone. I'm going to try some flash fiction today. It's cat flash fiction. This is Bella my youngest feline out of my group. She always has lots to say. This was a last year pic of her.
She looks like she has lots on her mind.
I hope you enjoy her thoughts.

Kitten Thoughts

It is true I do have a lot on my mind. But the thing is, I'm not taken seriously. For instance when I ask, they think I'm demanding something. Really?
I must protest and speak up about this. Because you see, I would like to go outside like some of the others. My mother says I have to stay in because the outside is too big for me and since the incident of which was not my fault and she knows it, I have to stay in.
It's simply is unfair and I tell her everyday. Yes I do!

Although, I have made some escapes and I'm quite pleased about those. The only thing is when I scurried out I hit this awful stuff that was very cold. Now this was not what I had in mind.
The green grass was covered with white stuff.
Who put that there?
I think my mother put it there or maybe one of the others. That would be like them. They would like nothing but to laugh at me. Well, we will see about this.
I will bid my time and you wait, you just wait world. I will make it outside and no cat or my mother will stop me.
Now I must go and plot.
Did I say plot? No I meant think about nice kitten thoughts.

FINAL INSTALLMENT-PARTING OF THE WAYS

Hello, I'm finally going to break my silence and say something. What I'm posting today is the final instalment to this story. I will now take it and shape it into a proper novel and hopefully have it available later this year for purchase.
I am also going to announce that I have a pen name that will be writing my romance under. I'm a multiple genre writer and would like to keep things separated. My pen name will be Elizabeth Baillie and she has her own website-elizabethbaillie.wordpress.com. I will post all her releases over there on that site. This site will return to what is was when I started it out as. I will post poetry, flash fiction and actual short stories. I would like to do cat stories as I'm a cat lover. Probably my first short story will be a cat story. So for all you cat lovers, stay tuned.
I will mention that I do have a novella out right now that is available for purchase on Amazon and Smashwords. I will make a formal announcement in the next few days. Maybe over the weekend.
It's called Dark Heat and is the first in a novella series. Inside is also a excerpt to the next novella-Sin's Kisses. There are also two short stories that are companions to two of the novellas.
As Elizabeth Baillie I will write mostly erotic romances that are both  straight, gay and bisexual. I like to mix it up as you will see in the novella series.
In the future I will also tell you of some other pen names in other genres I'm venturing into.
I will now leave you with the last post.
Have a great weekend!

PARTING THE WAYS

No one really spoke to Rhys on the plane. The wolf pak, pretty much kept to one side of the plane and Rhys understood that. Kellan barely glanced her way. That hurt more.
She so badly wanted to take him a side and explain things to him. But she knew the anger in him wouldn't let him sit down with her for five minutes. Rhys resigned herself to staying our of his way but when they landed she would talk to him and if she had to, she would tie him down so he would have no choice but to listen to her.
Rhys looked out the window and wondered where they were going. It wouldn't be where their home was as that would lead her family to her. No, it would be some far a way wolf hideout. She swallowed hard. They were probably going to not let her hide out with them. That would be dangerous for them.
She glanced back at Kellan and when she did, their eyes met. It was brief. Rhys looked back again. This time he was talking to one of the other wolves. It felt deliberate as he knew she was looking at him. She turned back to looking out the window. A little pang of hurt settled in her chest.
It was going to be hard to get through to him with all that anger that was standing strong between them. She would find a way. When he found out that the twins she was carrying was his...
A voice took her out of her thoughts. When she looked up, dark silver eyes looked back down at her. Thor sat down opposite her. Rhys observed gentleness in him that she hadn't seen before. He was always showing off his rough smart ass tongued self.
"I want to talk to you before we land which will be shortly. As you can guess, Ali wants to hide the pak for a while and lay low until Simon has given up on us. This means that we can't have you with us. Your father will have ones out there looking for you and if they found you with us...
"I know," she cut him off. "You would all be killed and I understand that. I will go on my own." Rhys saw the relief in his eyes when she said that. "But there is one thing I want before I leave you all."
Thor grinned as if he already knew.
"I want you to make Kellan listen to me. I need to tell him about the twins." Thor's eyebrows rose.
"Do you think that is wise? They are hybrids and Kellan does not like hybrids. Remember your brother is one."
"I know but this is me, not Garrett. And I have to know why he wants me dead. What did I do to him that he would want me dead? I think I have a right to know."
Thor leaned back in his chair. He was thinking Rhys knew. Then he narrowed his gaze at her and spoke.
"I know the reason but I will let him tell you himself. I wouldn't advise telling him about the twins. That will anger him only more. Trust me on that one." Before she could ask why Thor got up and left her.
They were now landing and it was a small airport like the one they left from. Rhys looked out the window and saw palm trees. They were in a tropical place. She sighed. Oh well she thought. It would be nice to be in a place where it was warm-a good place to have the twins perhaps.
Rhys looked back at Kellan who had already undone his seatbelt and was up. She waited for him to look her way and it was only a few seconds when he did and this time he didn't look away.
She gestured for him to come to her. He didn't hesitate this time. Her heart leaped into her mouth as he got close. His wolf scent devoured her. Kellan flopped into the seat opposite her. His bright silver eyes made Rhys breath hitch. He even appeared to be less angry.
"Thanks for coming  over. I wanted to talk to you before the pak left."
He never said anything, just kept his gaze on her making her palms sweaty.
Rhys cleared her throat and continued. "I know you wanted to kill me from day one. I want to know why. What did I do to you? I never even knew you before."
"No, you didn't know me from before but you did know someone that I knew."
"Is this someone important? Is this someone the reason you want me dead?"
Kellan grinned, "definitely."
Rhys was about to ask who this was when Thor came up to them. "It's time to go, Ali want us all loaded up in the SUV's ready to go." He glanced over at Rhys. "We've arranged for a taxi to come for you and take you to a hotel for now until you find a place to stay."
"Thanks."
Thor looked back at Kellan. "Come, we have a lot to do."
"Wait," said Rhys. "I want to know who this someone is that makes you want to kill me."
Thor gave Kellan a look. Kellan got up and looked down at her. "It doesn't matter but in the future I would be careful because you never know where I will be."
He left with Thor.
Rhys was no farther ahead than she was before. Anger was boiling inside of her and she leaped out of her seat to go confront him.
By the time she got out of the plane, she was watching Kellan get into a SUV with Thor who was driving and take off wasting no time.
Rhys stood there motionless. He was gone and she didn't know when she would see him again. Next time would probably be in some dark alley ready to attack her.
Someone touched her arm. She startled.
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to scare you." It was Ali.
"That's alright. I was just disappointed that I didn't get to talk to Kellan more."
Ali sighed. "Yeah, I know, but let me give you some advice. Okay?"
Rhys smiled at Ali. Memories of fighting her played out in her mind all the way to saving her. Her enemy now had become a friend. She couldn't believe  how all that played out. It was because of him-Kellan. She did it all for him. Ali though did become a real friend, in her own way.
She smiled warmly at Rhys. "Let Kellan go Rhys. He has too many issues to deal with. Let him sort them out and that includes you. I know you want to tell him about the twins but he couldn't handle that in the state he is in now, trust me on that one."
Rhys got the impression that she knew what she was talking about.
"Everything that he has been through with Simon's mind games and being locked up has left him bitter with the weir cats. You are an enemy to him. I wouldn't push it. The best thing you can do right now is go and take care of yourself. Recover from your own ordeal and have a safe healthy delivery. You have two hybrids to think about plus you know that other man of yours who thinks these twins are his will be tearing the word apart to find you. Think about that."
Rhys nodded. "You're right Ali. I have to take this one step at a time. But I'm not giving up on him. I do love him."
Ali smirked. "You don't have to tell me that, it's written all over your face. And you will have your day with him. I know that as I can feel it. I think you're destined to be together. Don't looked shocked, I've came a long ways, just like you."
Rhys grinned. "Yeah, I will agree on that. We've both come a hell of long ways. I'll take your advice. I'll give him space."
The loan SUV honked its horn. They were waiting for her.
"You better go," said Rhys. "I see my taxi has arrived."
Ali hugged her catching her by surprise. Her wolf scent slipped over her body. Rhys didn't mind.
"Good, keep care of yourself, and when we meet again don't scratch me."
Rhys laughed. "I'll remember that. you take care and look out for him for me."
"Consider it done." Ali turned to the waiting SUV. Rhys watched them drive off leaving her standing there all alone.
Rhys made her way to the taxi. When the driver got out she could smell the wolf. She smiled to herself. The wolves are a strong bunch, she thought. They stick together unlike her who left her family far behind. Thoughts of Josh made her chest hurt. She didn't like leaving him or Jamie behind. She would find them one day. Rhys promised herself that for sure.
She rested her hand on her belly. Right now she had two others to think about. Ali was right. She needed to take care of herself and these two.
Rhys got into the taxi and on the way to the hotel thought about Kellan and her conversation that she had on the plane with him. He said the reason he wanted her dead was because of a certain someone. Well, that would be the first thing on her list to do when she was back up on her feet.
She would find out who this someone was and find answers to why he wanted her dead. Rhys leaned back in her seat and closed her eyes for a moment. Those bright silver eyes of his stared back at her and his wolf scent washed over her, claiming her.
One day my darling, we will be back together and nothing will stand in our way.
The cab stopped at the hotel and Rhys got out. She looked back at the new world she was in and smiled to herself . "Yes, this perfect my little ones. I will start over here and you mother will find a way to get back to your father, even if I have to move Heaven and Hell to do it."
The warm breeze caught her hair and blew it around as she went into the hotel.

LEAVING

Rhys knew she was going to have to ditch the SUV and very soon. Jared, she knew would have alerted Garrett and Simon as to what happened. She knew she did it this time. There would be severe consequences for pulling this stunt off.
Thor and Kellan had come up behind her and Thor climbed into the front seat. "Give me your cell phone."
She handed it to him. "We're out."
Rhys could hear some shouting in the back. She was guessing it was Ali maybe. "Meet us at the warehouse, we need to get out of this town and fast."
Rhys looked over at him. She watched his eyes grow dark. He met her stare and then spoke out the address. Rhys sped up. That was right next to a  small airport. They were flying out.
Apart of her was relieved. She wanted to get back to her own house. Rhys knew however that it wasn't going to be that easy. They would look for her there at her house. She looked at Thor again and wondered where they were going to fly off to.
Thor threw down the cell on the seat between them. She wanted to ask where they were going to fly off to but decided not to. Conversation right now was not something she wanted to engage in, especially with two angry wolves.
Rhys pulled up to the warehouse to a row of trucks that she knew were full of wolves. Ali got out of one. Thor jumped out of the SUV without saying a word. Kellan followed, never looking at her. A small lump in throat formed. As she sat there she wondered if she was even going with them. They were going to perhaps leave her to her family that would severely punish her for what she did. Jared and Simon would mess with her mind even more or maybe permanently. So, there was no way, she was going to let that happen. One way or another she was going to be on that plane flying to where ever they were going.
Rhys got out of the SUV and walked over to where Ali and the men were talking. Ali stopped talking when she came near. She smirked at Rhys. "You saved them kit. I'm impressed. I thought we had lost these two."
Kellan glanced over at her. His silver eyes were cold.
"I couldn't let them die because of me." Both Thor and Kellan were now looking at her but she didn't look at them, just kept her focus on Ali. "I need to get out of here. I don't want to  see my family."
Ali grinned, "I don't imagine you do since your old man meddled with your mind. He's quite the daddy."
Rhys didn't respond to that. Instead she looked over at the plane on the other side of the fence. "I need to be on that plane with you."
Ali mumbled something to the men. "Of course, we'll take you."
Relief washed over Rhys. "Thanks. We should get going."
"You're right." She waved her hand at the other trucks and others poured out and started heading towards the plane.
Out the corner of her eye she looked at Kellan. With how he felt about her, how was she going to tell him about the twins. If he knew, would he feel different about her or would he have the same attitude as Katie and think they were freaks? Never the less, his cold stare sent shivers down her spine and her first instinct was to do everything to protect her twins.
"I have to get my cell phone and then I'll help with getting things on the plane." Ali nodded and started giving instructions to everyone.
Rhys ran to the SUV and that's when she noticed it. There was a flashing light inside. She grabbed her cell phone which also was blinking with missed messages. She first took a look at the flashing light first. It was a tracking light that kept track of the location of the SUV. Her chest thumped. They knew where they were. Rhys quickly went to her messages. It was from Jared.
"We're coming to get you."
Rhys ran to Ali. "We have to get out of here now. The damn SUV has a tracking system in it and I just got a message from Jared. They're coming."
Ali swore under breath and started yelling. Everyone started running towards the plane. The engine was already running.
They all got on. Thor, Kellan and she were the last to get on. Thor grinned, "after you kit." She looked over at Kellan who smirked. His look was venomous. She swallowed hard and ran up the stairs. They followed close behind her. She let Kellan's wolf scent wash over her body.
The plane started to take off before even Rhys got her seat belt on.
As she looked out the window, SUV's were pulling up. The first one to get out was Josh. Behind him was Jamie.
Rhys felt a tug at her heart.
